EDIT: No Good. It just rebooted and now beeps 3 times with blank screen. Then the 3 beeps repeat ever so often. Guess there is no way to fix it now.
To recover your notebook, you'll need USB floppy drive, floppy disk & CRISIS package.

How to create CRISIS disk:-
- Download the CRISIS package & extract all of the contents.
- Rename your F.17 BIOS from
3081F17.WPH to
BIOS.WPH.
- Copy your
BIOS.WPH & put it in the CRISIS folder, replace the existing BIOS.WPH file in the CRISIS folder.
- Make sure create CRISIS disk in Windows XP or it won't work.
- Create CRISIS disk using floppy disk by executing the WINCRIS.EXE.
- Follow on screen instruction.
How to recover your HP notebook:-
1. Disconnect the AC adapter
2. Remove the battery
3. Plugged in the USB floppy drive & insert the CRISIS disk
4. Hold down the keyboard windows key + 'B' (Win + B)
5. Connect the AC adapter. Do not release Win + B yet.
6. Turn on the notebook with the power button. Do not release Win + B yet.
7. When you see system is accessing the floppy disk, release windows key + 'B'.
8. Let it run for 15 minutes.
9. If after 15 minutes it doesn't restart or shutdown itself, power it off manually. Power on the notebook & if it is successful, your notebook should boot normally.
