[Recovery] hp dv6 3020em and intel centrino ultimate 6300
#1
hi, i've bought the intel centrino ultimate 6300 wireless card but obviously my bios
don't allow my pc to start with the card.
I've found this file
100% sp50942 HP DV6 3071tx NoWhiteList By Camiloml.exe

the update number (sp50942) is the same that my last BIOS update file
and the pc is near the same DV6, but mine is 3020em, can i use it?

Really thanks for the help!!
Claudio

Yeah, if the bios download is the same then it will work, your computer may have some different hardware, but the BIOS is the exact same. You said its the same as your LAST file? By that do you mean the most recent, e.g. the one you have currently installed?

yes, it was exatly like the one i have intalled, but i watched on the hp site and the release date, name and data release was the same so i give it a try, and it worked!!

Your PC tries to boot after removing cmos battery? shows any sign of life?

Let's see... you need.

USB Stick 2Gb or less, original bios, then format usb stick as FAT32, let's assume it's got drive letter x assigned. Then you must create this folder structure.

x:\HEWLETT-PACKARD\BIOS\Current

Then from the original bios updater take the 01488F23.bin file and copy it to the "Current" folder then rename to 01488.bin

This makes the USB Stick ready to recover your laptop. Now remove AC cord, and battery pack, open laptop and remove cmos battery for a couple of minutes.

Put back cmos battery, plug USB Stick on USB port, press and hold WIN-B keys, connect AC cord and press power on (keep WIN-B pressed all the time and after 10 seconds of power on) you should see usb activity on the usb stick. Your bios should be recovering.

If the WIN-B combo does not work, repeat the procedure but press all four arrows (cursor movement keys) instead.
