[REQUEST] Packard Bell DOT ZG5
#1
Smile
Hey, just bought the orignal Dot the other day, used of course but good enough for schoolwork. Faster than expected with some extra RAM, but I want more Angel

Have read a bit around and see that many computers running the same Atom processor have pushed it pretty easily to 2ghz. Sadly there is no OC settings in bios, and neither in the one update released. So basically I'm asking for is a (simple?) unlock of the bios for this baby. I have tried to do it my self, but I'm kinda the step-by-step guy, so no luck thus far.

So yeah, some OC settings would be nice. Any other settings that you can dig up while you're at it would be appreciated but not necessary. (I like things I can tweak, and I blame android for it. That and my flash addiction!) :/

Also I've noticed some of the early Aspire One computers share ALOT with the Dot. Also in the BIOS update from Packard Bell I found references to Acer Aspire. And considering that Acer owns PB, I start to wonder that it is possible to flash a modded Aspire One BIOS? That is, if you guys can't be so kind to mod the original firmware Smile

Anyways, here is a link and pictures to help you guys out.

Flashed it now, worked perfectly, got a lot of new settings. Half of which I have no clue what does :p anyway I can't seem to find anything that resemble CPU clock settings or FSB clock. Am I just plain stupid here or am I missing something? Smile

hmmm, maybe that bios doesn't have such options or are still hidden into the now unhidden menus. I will look deeply into this.

Code:
'Dynamic FSB Switching'
'Enable or disable processor Dynamic FSB Frequency Switching(Bus GV).'

This is under "Power" menu tab, and is the only item regarding FSB in the whole bios.

Code:
'Turbo Mode'
'Enable processor Turbo Mode(requires EMTTM enabled too).'

This is enabled by default, and is below the previous.

And nothing related memory timmings. So sorry, this is it. I'm afraid this bios had not overclocking options embedded.

Post some screenshots please of the unlocked menus and its options. Wink

[censored]! Had some semi-luck with SetFSB now, but the change in FSB won't stick, seems that it software oc is blocked.

Anyway here are some pictures of all the settings I can see. Had to upload the zip to mediafire tough, because of the size limits.

Try disabling the Dynamic FSB switching. Maybe that prevents SetFSB to work properly.
Hmmm i see VtT setting is still grayed, do you need/want to enable it?

Don't see any usage for VtT yet. However I can not find the Dynamic FSB? Looked everywhere under the power tab.

I know this is old, but I've dusted off my Aspire One ZG5 and it'd be great if I can change the VRAM or anything else to beef this thing up. Also Acer offers 3310 over the current unlocked 3309 bios, I think it fixes the battery charging issues.
Last but not least, how do you wizards do this stuff? What tools do you use? I've poked at EZH2O but I wasn't getting more than Logos.
Thanks,
-Wagz
