You can try with a newer or older rev of the bios.
Do you know the spxxxxx name of other version of your bios?

When you say spxxxxx do you mean the sp52214.exe <Current, sp51090.exe <previous sp50490.exe <previous?
Here is the list of bio's released by HP

Im intrigued to know where you obtain the RSA (.sig) from!? Is it just produced from AndysTool and then renamed!? Im trying to not be such a n4b this and learn a bit as I go
P.s I will be sure to send a donation for your time Camilo either way.. Good job I have my Work Thinkpad and my gaming pc to fall back on if this doesn't go to plan!

Yes, the files are obtained using Andy's tool 1.90 or later.
The RSA.SIG file must be renamed to the recovery name given by andy's tool (changing extenxion to .SIG) and the other one is the .DEC file the tool produces after unpack original bios, that one must have the recovery name normally is .BIN
Try it with other bios revisions, maybe one of them works fine. Copy both files (.SIG & .BIN) to "Current" and "Previous" folders. In your case both files must be named 01488.SIG and 01488.BIN obviously you can try only one rev at a time cause all files must be named 01488.*

Cool.. Look like I was doing the right thing although when I ran Andy's Tool It says recovery file names are path to current\0143F.BIN. Should it actually be 01488!? Very little documentation or guides on this stuff... I have just "stumbled" upon everything so far. Its kept it me of Skyrim for a good 24 hours at least.. Oh and pretty much a days worth of coding @ work..
UPDATE!!!!
You beauty! I did it! I used this bios
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softw...20&sw_lang=
Its bring up a smart disk error but hopefully from here I can work this out.. :\ Just running the ram/hdd tests now.
Another update..
Got in to the BIOS settings.. The AHCI setting seems to be there which is a bit strange.. Set it back to IDE for now and just doing a quick debian install on to the oem hdd.. Will then try ssd is all works ok. If not how to I go about getting a working AHCH unlock available?

Oooops that was a typo on my signature... Think I typed that at 2am last night and it was all starting to get to me.. It is the dv6-3141ea. Looks like I typed the correct model in my orig post but got my signature wrong.. I ended up just trying a few bits from the terminal in linux to test the drive etc and is all visible.. I have now set it to AHCI and trying to install windows 7. Lets see how it goes. That flash drive will be staying as is from now on as a backup.
PS just sent a little something for your help!
Just tried AHCI... gey a load of funny colours appear from the top of the screen then goes to the smart error screen... have to run a scan on the hdd and ram before I can continue.
The bios with AHCI was a no go.. I have no put the latest HP released bios back on but am still looking for a way to enable the AHCI open because im pretty sure this is why my machine blue screens and is very unstable with my ocz ssd fitted. Should I start a new thread to request this?

Thanks Camilo. Just ran the bios updater and now have the extra menu again to enable EHCI but once enabled get same problem as before... A large number or short horizontal lines appear from the top of the screen, all different colours then goes to a smart hard disk error page and asks me to run system diagnostics for hard disk 1 (3f1) Im just about to upload a video.
UPDATE - Actually it went back in to the state where it didn't power up the screen(dead).. Luckily I have my trusty flash drive with my bios recovery handy now and its up and running again!
