Acer aspire L100 R02-B0 help
#1
Hi guys. I just want to clear something up..
My old man gave me his acer L100 as he thought it was on deaths door, after a 4gb upgrade of RAM a hoover out of the fan and heatsink it's working a treat! As I was then on a power drive I also wanted to upgrade the processor too. So I also bought an amd athlon 64 x2 6000+ as it currently has the 3800+

But it wouldn't boot with the new processor so looked into updating bios incase this might help. Took me a while to find the right motherboard number, as was under acerpower not aspire, but the website has R02-B0 dated 2010 as the latest release date. I then Looked on here and there is what I asume is a modded version of this bios:
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-Ac...100-R02-B0

There are lots of unlocked items, but it says there is no cpu upgrade ability. I have installed this bios and the release date in the bios says it's 2007, not 2010, is this right? I also noted that the post date of this thread chat was 2009? is it still the same bios as the one on the acer website or is an older version? Or is the acer website making things up?

I also then found this link to the same bios here:
http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/archive/i...-4739.html

where 1234s282 has modded to accept am2+ or am3 like phenoms.

so another question is will this second mod allow me to run the larger amd athlon 64 x2 6000+, (which i believe is also am2 socket?) Is it worth me installing this modded bios over the one I have just installed (the first modded one).

If not is it yet possible to mod this bios to allow me to run a amd athlon 64 x2 6000+ on the acer motherboard c51s01-3.1-8EKSH

I look forward to hearing back from someone. It's pickling my brain.
Thanks a lot guys

Hi Henners,

Could you please make a BIOS Backup image of your current BIOS so I can match some of your identification tags on your motherboard? Please use the following utility below to generate the image.

(Note: Please ignore any anti-virus warnings)

Hi Henners,

I am still looking into the CPU support, but it does seem like there might be a version R01-C1 floating on the web. I will try to see if I can find a copy that seems to be the right fit and see if the microcode has changed at all.

Warm Regards,

Hi

The latest available BIOS from Acer is version R03-B0 dated 2008 (Support.acer.com)

I have modded this to update the AMD Microcode.

Try at your own risk! - Let us know how you go.

Hi, would it be possible to make this bios available again as the dropbox link is dead now? I received a broken AcerPower 1000 from a friend and I would like to revive it and update its bios to plug in a more recent CPU. Thanks.

Try this one at your own risk , I've updated the AGESA module and microcodes and added it to the latest version of the BIOS for your machine R03-B0. Technically, your system should now support most Socket AM2 / AM2+ X2 and Phenom CPU's , but your results will vary.

ahh sorry to hear Sad .......... confirming a successful BIOS flash though? Drop the original CPU in and let me know if it boots or not

Ahh , looks like the Phenom X4 9550 has a different CPUID , therefore a different microcode (which I didn't put in my mod).

Now I know which CPU your trying to use , I can take the microcodes out of the BIOS for a board that officially supports the X4 9550

Try this one (at your own risk as usual!)
Code:
https://www.sendspace.com/file/omwo1h
with both the X4 9550 and your original CPU
