Is testing the newtork card possible prior to flashing the BIOS?

I was able to get the device information required for my new card using the BIOS pause/install card /continue boot method. My question is that windows recognized the card and installed drivers. But I could not see any wireless networks.

Yes I did attach the antennas when the card was installed...

And oddly enough the wired connection was unable to connect either. Any way I was hoping to run a speed test to quantify my possible speed gain in doing the bios mod before proceeding.

Has anyone been able to connect their card to their wifi with an un-hacked bios and the post trick?
