BIOS unlock request for Acer Aspire 5100 v.3.13
#11
There is no options for cpu in this bios , the only hidden tab was the ADVANCED tab which got the advanced chipset sub-menu .
You can search for the options in the original bios.rom file and see if there any other options you need but i guess these was the most important ones .

Thanks for confirming,

Moved to unlocked /mod

for the SW MEM REMAP feature its enabled by default and i`m sorry as i unlocked the bios before reading your reply ....... let me knew if you want to disable it or you want to have it as an option to control sothat i modify the modified bios again Smile
try it and i`m waiting your reply .

It flashed with no problems on my 5100 too...
I just wanted to have the option of the memory remap to ENABLE it...
as it now is enabled, it is as i wanted...
I guess the Virtualization Technology is also enabled?

My laptop just became that much more valuable for me now Smile

Why would you like to disable the S.M.A.R.T function???
thats the function that gives you more information about the hard drive status.... heath monitoring and so on...

I myself haven't seen any performance increase by turning this feature off....

I know i cant get any performance....I have a disk failure (more than 1 year), and every time i turn on the computer i have to press F1 (something B8 end to end failure), i know i have to replace the hdd, but for the moment is still working; i use that computer only for skype, so is not a big problem if i lose the data from that hdd. I would like to use that computer remotly but with that failure....i cant, so that s way i want to disable the function.

Another idea to get around the smart function is to get a usb cabinet and put your hd in that and run it from usb...
I have never seen anything in bios about smart on a usb drive Cool

Hi:

I'm new in this forum and I got here becuase I'm looking for a mod BIOS for the Acer 5100. I read the post and I also tested the BIOS provided and I got the "Advanced" tab also but no option to enable Virtualization. I would appreciate your help please.

Thanks for trying.

Hi, I try this version of BIOS supposing that then SATA options (IDE/AHCI) will be available, but I still can't find that option. Does it mean my chipset doesn't supports AHCI at all?
