Cam YOU DA MAN!!! Donation has been made! I'm now using my KillerN card! Thank you! The only thing I can tell that is not working properly at the moment is the LED light on the "F12" function key... (That's the key that turns on/off the wireless network card) with the old wireless network card installed the led stays clear/white...with the modified bios and the KillerN card installed it flashes on and off, strange huh? .....I think I can deal with it switching on/off all the time for now.... the 5G makes me overlook that small issue.

Use pin 20 trick maybe that solves "flash dance"

so, i finally run the modded BIOS tonight. i do not have HP Tools directory, so no worries there. Run the exe, it flashed fine...did not go into BIOS at all. i rebooted twice just to make sure all is working fine, which it did. shut down laptop, replaced WLAN with Intel centrino 6230 and rebooted laptop. All i get is black screen...no windows boot, no bios boot. power light is on, caps lock light is blinking....help?!??!

Hi Camilo, I read the "Pin 20" post and I think I understand it correctly but wanted to run it past you. The pin 20 is on the WFI card, correct?
Guessing that it was, I took a stab at counting the number of copper connections on the card, starting with the 1st pin located next to the Dot..... I counted across till I reached the 20th pin.....then I used some white out (I didn't want to scrape off the trace just yet) to cover pin 20 so it wouldn't touch the lead. I put the card back in the system and turned it on but it did not fix the LED dance. I can press the radio button to turn it off and the LED turns red as it should be (And turns off the WFI connection) but no such luck on the dance part. Perhaps it's the WFI card I have.....It's not a big deal, just though you would like an update.

just a fyi, when I ran the flash, it did not go into the BIOS at all as well.... it did everything within windows....

That is the correct pin, isolate it with a little piece of electrical isolation tape, don't scrape it.

Once tapped you should not be able to power off the card by hardware switch, will be always on, and hopefully the led dance stops.

well, i removed cmos, battery and hard drive, plugged cmos & battery back in...started it up and got msg that cmos needed to be reset, enter to reboot...i then plugged in hard drive and then hit enter to reboot...now, all is well. i flashed the official bios for hp and everything is back to normal

How did you get Hardware ID's above? I'm thinking if I provide that info, it will do the trick so I got close. Modded BIOS was able to flash, but once i put in the the new wlan card is when the problem occured.

Start menu click “Control panel”, click “system”, click “Device manager” scroll down and click “Network adapters” right click on your Wireless adapter and select “properties” click the “details” tab, then use the “Property” drop down box to change to the “(Hardware ids), (Compatible ids), and (Device Instance Path)” ……these three might be overkill info but I wanted to make sure Cam had all the info….. I think it will help him isolate where in the bios your WFI card is located….hopefully fix the bricking that you had prior.

Ok, I think I covered the wrong pin the first time… looking at the picture, on the left side, the copper dot indicates that first connector to the left is pin 2, correct? Talking out loud here…then counting the pins from left to right (showed in the picture “pin 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, and pin 20) would put the one with the white line in the picture as pin # 20….. So logically thinking, pin 1 is on the opposite side,(or top side) next to the dot and pin 2 is on the other side,(or bottom side) correct?
