MSI G31 (MS-7529) AHCI and CPU
#1
Hello All. Can You please modify my BIOS? I have a problem with AHCI. It's just not turning on! There is only IDE mode, but no AHCI. Also, there a problem with my CPU.
Every time I boot computer, POST says that my CPU is unsupported, and it will run at reduced speed. I'm a newbee here, so don't kick me with my stupid questions.
Anyway, thanks.

My CPU: Intel Dual-Core E2160

Does your southbridge support AHCI?
I don't think it does, but I'm not 100% sure, please check your southbridge first:

To stop the unsupported CPU error, try using the latest version of the bios, which could be this one:

If the latest bios doesn't help, report back here and I might be able to update your microcode with MMtool.

Oh, really? Ok, will live without ACHI. I don't need a CPU microcode update ( I have buyed a new one CPU ).
This ROM is 1024 kBytes, but my rom - 512. Can I flash my BIOS with your rom?

Maybe it's best not to use my ROM, just go to the MSI website and get the latest bios for your model.

The reason you need a microcode update is because you have a new CPU, you need it to be supported.

But this CPU was supported by default. ( E5700 )
