[Project] SHE and AHCI BIOS mod for ASUS EeePC 1000H
#51
I have a 1000H. Im using the GT version. I've noticed 2 bugs:

1. Reboot does not work. When you reboot from any OS (linux, win7, xp), it hangs at the point where it issues the reset signal.
2. Fast boot does not work (bios logo/self check shown at every boot).

If you can bring these back it will be a perfect mod!

tanks for this mod,

i am interested by AHCI to perform access with the SSD

witch tool use to update the bios ? (i run my 1000H over win7 32b)

tanks for your response

I used version 1.3.0.4 of Asusupdate. Link to 1.3.0.4

It worked fine for me, multiple times on W7 Pro 32b

Good luck!

Actually, the best way, because it is built in and Operating System independent, is to flash your BIOS at powerup....using the Alt+F2 method.

1- Format a USB stick in Fat32 (it may be ok in NTFS)
2- Copy the BIOS file you want to install to the root of the stick, i.e. not inside a folder.
3- Rename the file to 1000H.ROM
4- Plug in your mains power cord.
5- Hold Alt+F2 at powerup. (Just like you would hold ESC for the popup menu.)
6- The process will then start... be patient, it takes quite a few minutes. Do NOT touch anything.
7- Don't panic. It will tell you when to power off again.

If you failed to follow these instructions and get a repeated, "Failed to find 1000H.ROM" message, hold the power button down till it turns off.

Cheers.

PS: I have all the bells and whistles drivers for Win7 on 1000H if anyone needs them. I recommend using the Chipset drivers from MS though, for the ACHI. Install Win7 in normal IDE mode before changing over to ACHI following the instructions from MicroSoft.

Using GT too.

1. Yes, that happens to me. It does reset... takes ages. I have resigned myself to just electing to shutdown and rebooting manually. It's easy enough.

2. Fast Boot seems to be missing yes. This one does not bother me at all as I never had it turned on anyway.

Another 2 bugs I discovered was:

I first tried the GTX mod. I installed Win7 onto the 60gb G-Skill Pheonix Pro SandForce SSD. I thought I would have ACHI on when I did this as the drivers are meant to install automatically. A reboot and the screen pointer had vanished! It was still there, just invisible. I was not a bad install as it happened again. So the next time I installed with compatibility on and changed over to ACHI using regedit following the Microsoft instructions.

So far so good. So I tried Super Performance Mode and CPU-Z showed a negative hit instead of a boost. I tried a reboot and my new SSD drive had disappeared. According to the BIOS it was just not there! Open up the case... the bugger was really hot. I thought it was fried. However, after about half an hour it was ok. Phew.

I changed to the GT BIOS and things couldn't seem better.

Nevermind the overclocking did not work, I'm very happy to have ACHI and TRIM going. Well, supposedly it is, I don't get as good Crystal Mark results as you Tol. I hope I did it right (I didn't understand what IE8 had to do with it). If I did it correctly then I am a bit disappointed as I was led to believe the drive was better than that regardless of just being on Sata150.

Update.

Yesterday I have installed on my OCZ w7 ultimate, with AHCI ON.
I use Atto benchmark and results with Intel RST and with w7's drivers are not so good.

There isnt a really gap between IDE or AHCI, with IDE mode is almost more fast and more regular in benchmark.
On Atto 2.46 with custom bios and AHCI (RST or w7 drivers, no difference): write max 77 mb/s, read max 111mb/s
With stock bios, IDE mode: write max 85mb/s read max 121mb/s.

Same SSD on cpu more fast: write max 91mb/s read max 171mb/s.

Hi there!!
After such a long search over google, I was ready to sell my ASUS 1000H which didn't have the choice of AHCI enabled in bios which I needed as I've just purchased an OCZ ssd for it!!
BUT I discovered your miracleSmile Thanks a lot very very much!! I've installed win7 ultimate and it flies just like in XPSmile I've very happy and proud, which I couldn't be without your help!! I'm using the plain 2204GT version, as I use eeectl for my overclocking!!
I have just a minor prob with the boot screen of Win7, which is the ugly vista style green bar what I get, but after long reading also I've found out that if the resolution is lower than 1024x768 then I get this ugly screen, even at the resuming screen (this is what microsoft decided for usSad )
So is there a workaround to this, just giving bios command to show 1024x768 resolution during boot up?
Minor importance to this but if you could do it, it would be nice to have this new beautiful splash screen of win7 or in general any boot screen we would choose through BootUp Changer or any other app!!
Thanks again for your great bios modification!!
Regards,
pamar

Regards.

I get pretty much the same crystaldiskmark benchmark, except that my
Random Write 4KB (QD=32) is abysmally slow at 0.354 MB/s.
I am using the gts-02 bios with ahci on. it is a fresh install of windows 7 on an OCZ Agility 3 60 GB drive fw 2.11. I have also verified that it is aligned properly. It is also about the same whether I use the default windows ahci driver or the intel rst driver.
Anyone have any ideas?

I'm uding a 904HA/XP, which is the HD version with 9 inch LCD of the 1000H, flashed the modded GTS bios and setted the IDE mode, should I expect some improvements or not?

I'm still using WinXP, and AHCI doesn't work and no SSD either - I'm using setFSB to change the frequency because 2Ghz is unstable to me (maybe to RAM timings - should try memset).

Tnx for the mod!

Using the 2204GTS-02 on my 1000H with a Atom N270 and "SHE" set to super performance, but the most I am seeing is 893.1 Mhz and 6X multiplier. Did I set something wrong or is the mod buggy?
Thanks,
Mike
