Hi kruegsh, can you tell me step by step how you restored the bios?
I don't know if mine has a sim slot. I have the SA2, and will soon have a SE1. My SA2 is bricked, it's still in the repair shop but I might take it back to try to fix it myself. I want to flash R1031H4 to the SE1 so I can get SATA3.
I had to unsolder my flash ROM to read and write it without errors! You need a SPI flash programmer for that job. I ordered one over ebay (Sofitech SP8-A) You need to overwrite the part that contains the settings of the BIOS (VSS). It is the part that has a size of 64 KiByte. Check Andy's pheonix tool or Marcan's pythons scripts to extract the BIOS parts. Dump your BIOS and replace the part with the original one. Use a HEX-editor for that. That's it!
The BIOS files provided by SONY and the dump have different offsets for those parts! You need (un)solder skills ... I used a wire sling to remove the tin-solder between flash ROM pins and mainboard. Don't use to much force! You want to lift the pins a bit not to rip the solder pins off.
