Hi Ahmed,
I've tried your unlocked BIOS in a compatible 7520G model, the thing starts and there are no problems, but I cannot enable AHCI on my SSD. It does nothing.
It's still using it in IDE mode. What do you think, why is it that?
I've tried even unlocked 5520 bios by another guy, but the problem persist, even that it has AHCI, RAID and Linux AHCI modes instead of
IDE, but the system won't boot after writing AHCI bios loaded succesfully. It doesn't hang, but shows the blinking cursor, nothing happens, and after restart, it reverts to IDE.
Thank you for your help!
I have the same problem, I set Sata-ahci to enabled but nothing changes I haven't yet tried the 5520 BIOS

Well i am not an expext when it comed to bioses, but what OS do you guys use because if it is windows 7 sure you cant just switch from IDE to AHCI you would actualy need to reinstall the system in AHCI mode or do a register hack to boot because windows doesnt really like that change.
Is it stuck at booting or is it stuck on bios ?

Okay i tried the AHCI option, and i can comfirm that this has nothing to do with windows or whatsoever it is exactly as desribed here the laptop just reboots and defaults back to IDE

Sorry about my bad english.
I confirm that AHCI 1.0 works with this BIOS modification on acer 5520g with SSD OCZ vertex plus 120gb.
As was told before, every reboot BIOS reverts mode to IDE, but, if you on first boot, when you change mode, insert any liveCD and choose boot from HDD. The system can start. Actually i can run windows 7, it automatically set up drivers for ahci sata controller and works fine with it.
So, AHCI works, but the BIOS didn't save the AHCI mode for SATA and can't boot from AHCI device, because can't see it in boot devices.
Any ideas ???
