Asus Rampage III Extreme ZioMod Bios (Latest: 1601_S17)
#21
(06-16-2012, 06:29 AM)sinders Wrote: Hi ZioGTS

Have you tried out the Marvell 91xx SATA 6G Controller Firmware version 2.2.0.1125b?

I am not sure what the difference is between 2.2.0.1125 and 2.2.0.1125b.

B version is what allowed me to build the modules. I wasn't able to do it with non b version.

(06-16-2012, 07:16 AM)breakdown234 Wrote: well no aes-ni enable option -.- , anybody?

p.s:loving this mod already , except as mentioned aes-ni support

I'm sorry, I don't know how to do it...

Btw, today I did a fresh win7 install on my Samsung 830 and run all sorts of benchmark and stress tests. ZioMod bios is rock solid! Performance is slightly better than what we're used to on our crappy Marvell controller, but don't expect miracles... 350 mb/s read speed max, not more. Tomorrow I'll post the single modules and possibly a full tutorial.

Your mod made my Marvell 9128 id device show as a 9123 id after flash, what happend? is there a way to get it back to 9128?

ZioMod is meant to work on Asus Rampage III Extreme, equipped with 9123 chip. As far as I know 9123 and 9128 are fully compatible, so you shouldn't worry about that. If you don't like it, just flash the original 1502 bios...

Actually, the Rampage III Extreme only comes with the 9128, not the 9123, lol... Mine has a clearly marked 9128 chip on it and its my second R3E, both of which have the 9128 on it. Not sure it matters though.

Anyhoo, wow thanks for this bios mod Zio. It has been running great for several days now. I have not done any benching on the Marvell, however I only use it for Linux distros as I keep all my ICH ports in raid mode for Windows and storage drives. Have not used the JMicron since the flash but I will. It is only used for a optical drive so I will have to burn something and do some benching with a dvd loaded to see if everything is working proper. It ejects the tray just fine though, haha...

VERY Glad to see someone is working on keeping this mobo up to date. In fact, I cant wait to see that guide your speaking of as I do not plan on changing motherboards for quite some time. 4Ghz and 12gb of memory with my 6 SSD's has satisfied my need for speed and then some. Wink There is going to need to be some seriously advanced technology releases to sway me to upgrade again, but until then I would like to learn how to keep my bios up to date as much as possible. So, thanks again and keep up the great work. I will keep checking back to see if you posted that guide or a bios with 11.5 when it goes final.

Best Regards
Rod

Thanks for sharing the the new BIOS breakdown234.

Any word on what's changed and new in BIOS 1601? I suppose this BIOS is a beta and still to
be released or because of it being an internal, it won't be officially released?

It would be good to know what's changed and new in 1601 compared to the
last official release 1502 and most of all, how stable this BIOS release is when
overclocking and etc compared to 1502.

Well I have modded this 1601 BIOS with all the new stuff me and ZioGTS has added in BIOS 1502.

1. Intel Option ROM updated to v11.1.0.1413
2. JMicron Option ROM updated to v1.07.28
3. Marvell Option ROM updated to (BIOS) v1.0.0.1033 / (FW) v2.2.0.1125

I haven`t tested this new BIOS myself yet on my board because i`m still waiting on feedback on
what's new and changed in this new BIOS version 1601 and its stability compared to 1502.

I am not going to post my modded BIOS because this thread belongs to ZioGTS and so not sure whether he
would take to kindly of me posting a modded 1601 BIOS especially if he wants to do the same thing.

Why dont you just update your thread with the new bios? Its different anyway since ZioGTS has SLIC 2.1 inserted into this one. If it was the same mod then I could see how he might take a disliking to it, but you dont have SLIC in yours which imo makes it a different product, lol Wink

Just sayin
