abit ip-35e bios unlock for ahci to work
#51
That shouldn't be a big deal but I need to boot windows to do that.. so I will probably not do it today, but some time soon. Are you sure you need this? I thought beta-18 was newer.. but I'll do it anyway Tongue

can you get that information from the file? that the beta is newer?

i thought the final was newer.... if the beta is newer i guess it is the way to go. Smile
i just want to have the last possible BIOS version for my board.

I can't find no "proof", but the beta18 BIOS is from this (official) thread: http://forums.hexus.net/abit-care-hexus/...pping.html

Also look here: http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=164549&highlight=abit&page=18#428

I think m630a.bin (beta 18) is really the latest version available.

thank you very much for all your great help!

i googled a lot as well but did not find the right link.
this was important to me since the Q9450 i'm gonna put on this board is E0 stepping which was only supportet with the latest bios rev.

so i guess there is no need to mod my older version. Smile
thanks again - this is a great helpful forum!
especially when you have a board from a bankrupt manufacturer. Wink

Just bit the bullet on ToxAtec´s AHCI mod and it worked perfectly Cool

I installed the fix ToxAtec mentions http://support.microsoft.com/kb/922976 (Windows 7 on my machine)

Remember to clear the bios after install (I took battery out and pulled the power the lead) and edit as you need.

IP35E (toxatec AHCI bios)
Q9550 @ 3.7Ghz
2 x 4Gb OCZ Reapers (1066Mhz)
Windows 7 64bit

When you reboot you will see the bios display the AHCI message before the IDE one(if you have the Abit logo off).

Then Windows installs the AHCI driver and needs a reboot.

One strange thing, I had to unplug one of my other hard-drives to boot the PC before I could get into the bios.

Now to buy a Samsung or Crucial M4 Smile

Cheers ToxAtec!

man been looking for the beta bios for few days and finally found it here, thanks

have a q8300 and the final bios 18 i found supported the cpu but the temperature was all messed, read i needed the beta one somewhere so i thought i got it but then i read that a beta file was going around with the same md5 checksum as the final 18, one note tho my bios screen is red/green when it used to be blue but works so all good

thanks!!!!

red/green ended up being my monitor lol, turned on/off was ok

hey guys....

i have a weird problem and i was wondering, if maybe the modded bios is the reason?

i'm not sure if the issue has always been there since the modded bios or if it is a recent thing...

problem:
i can only use 3.25gb of my 6gb installed ram.

system:
abit ip35-e
q9550
2x2gb corsair, 2x1gb a-data
win 7 prof x64

first i googled the issue (of course) and got many results, but none of the solutions fit/work.

- memory not limited in msconfig
- no onboard vga to take up memory
- no 32bit system (of course)
- bios also only shows 3405854 bytes of memory!! but windows sais 3.25gb out of 6gb can be used

many suggested that maybe "memory hole" or "memory remapping" needs to be enabled in the bios. i googled this for ip35 and it sais this function is enabled by default for this board. there is no setting in the bios for it.
is it possible that this function has somehow been disabled in the bios mod?

could you please check for me @ToxAtec?

or do you know what the reason for this issue is?
the 6gb definitely worked at some point. i just don't know if it worked since the new bios...

thanks in advance!

The first thing I would try is booting up a Linux Live CD like PartedMagic to make sure it's not a Windows problem. It's easy to put on a USB drive with a tool called "UNetbootin": http://unetbootin.sourceforge.net/
Select Distribution: Parted Magic ; Latest_Live.
Of course you can burn a CD as well.
There's an icon on the desktop leading to a "System Profiler". Look there. Alternatively open a console and type 'free -m'.. Both should tell you if 6GB are being used.

But as the BIOS doesn't show the full RAM it's probably not an OS problem, so maybe change your RAM module arrangement (different slots)? Test only 2x2GB, that's already more than 3.25GB..

I will have a look at the BIOS options as soon as I can.

thanks for your quick reply and i'm an idiot.
right after i posted i also had the idea to move around the rams.
it basically worked immediately so i guess one of them was not sitting right.
6gb work just fine now. Smile

thanks again for the help!

your bios is awesome! i got a 7.8 with the crucial SSD at windows "benchmark". Smile

Sadly I bricked my MB. Do not know what happened. I used this modified bios for IP35-E. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1525839/Bios/M630A_modd.rar (linked in the thread, seems some one confirmed it works.)
The flash process goes fine and finally the computer reboot suddenly, black screen, CPU fans are on. Have Tried BIOS recovery without any luck, order a replacement BIOS chip.
Could someone point me which modified bios works for sure and the correct command to flash bios, I use the bat file and awdflash.exe provided by manufacturer in the last updated BIOS updates.
