(UEFI) Dell XPS 15z L511z modded BIOS - and HOWTO
I have SS in my output as well and the BIOS has been patched. For speedstep to work you will need to use MSRDumper.kext and check your output (just google around - it's quite easy to find & use). If it's not working then you could (i) use a patched AICPUPM kext (again - google is your friend) (ii) try patching your BIOS.

Let me know if you need any help Smile

@jkbuha Big Grin thanks! MSRDumper works for me, i can see the multiplier and the reached P-States in kernel.log.
I don't have AICPUPM installed. maybe the SSDT.aml works for me?

Sadly not if you have DropSSDT=Yes in chamleon. AICPUPM = AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext, you definitely must have it installed, mac or pc, otherwise SS doesn't work (what does MSRDumper show you?)

I'd prefer we discuss non-BIOS related hacks elsewhere as there is a more focussed forum. PM me if you get stuck on anything else ok. I'd rather we focus on getting our BIOSes unlocked here as we seem to be making some good progress and wouldn't want to lose the momentum.

@Ahmed - how's the dispatch of your new laptop coming along? Are you going to get it this week?

Very interesting thread and great progress. Really looking forward to the bios unlock so we could get GT545M working in OSX.

Well done Ahmed on finishing your exams and your new laptop! Smile

Don't worry that it's not UEFI - I'm sure we will both work hard on unlocking the features in any case!

Speak again in a couple of days - looking forward to working together to finally unlocking the UEFI Bios Smile

Hi.

I have a xps 15 l502x laptop.
I was trying to get rid of that Computrace rootkit, wich is already set as activated.
I generated a new bios image with a modified F33E3...ROM whithout the 17B34... ROM. (computrace)
I flashed the bios but it's still there.
Has anyone successfully erased computrace from the l502x bios?

Thanks.

Edit:
I located the ROM that holds the options for computrace I am trying to figure out how to make this setting modifiable once again.

I've been following this thread for some time now, and have been toying with the bios images from time to time trying to figure out how all pf the modules work together. I think I may have noticed something that you guys may not have. There's a module in the top leverl of the image called SetupBrowser... perhaps your menu display code is in there?

Code:
24D164 {EBF342FE-B1D3-4EF8-957C-8048606FF670} 7 40 Driver Size 42739 (214)
0 24D17C Compressed section - Size 42739 Original Size 114752 (215)
0 0 GUID defined section (Valid CRC32) - Size 28 (216)
1 1C PE32+ image section - Size 114692 (217)
2 1C020 User Interface (SetupBrowser) - Size 30 (218)

hey ryan - good to have you on board this project as well!

Not sure I have SetupBrowser module in my Dell BIOS - where did you look?
Also - why would you think this would contain any menu templates - have you seen something like this happening elsewhere?
