https://www.dropbox.com/s/d9zg1j62fksl26...%20MOD.rar

please let me knew if this worked well or not Smile

Please Don`t send any donations before you try the BIOS and make sure options are unlocked , paypal account ( mabdlka@haverford.edu ) .
There are 2 versions in Windows folder: original Winflash_PEW71129.exe (flash it first) and probably modded folder Winflash (execute InsydeFlash.exe). I not checked yet.

I might have done something wrong. If you're a seasoned vet, why not give it a shot?

Recovery for Acer5742G

(1) Download the official BIOS from Acer: http://support.acer.com/product/default....delId=3278

(2) Rename PEW71129.fd to PEW71X64.fd

(3) Format a USB stick to FAT/FAT32 and put that file in the root of the key

(4) Remove the battery and power cable. Plug in the USB key in the lower right USB slot.

(5) Hold down Fn + Esc and plug in the AC power

(6) While STILL holding down Fn + Esc, press the power button and continue to hold down Fn + Esc until the HDD light comes on

(7) Let go of Fn + Esc and wait about 5 minutes. Machine will reboot on it's own, turn back on, and reboot again.

(8) Computer will reboot and you'll be back on the latest official BIOS.

I was able to flash the 1.27 BIOS found here: http://www.bios-mods.com/BIOS//Insyde/AA...miloml.exe without any issues.

Still curious if there is a way to disable one of the GPUs. It causes weird compatibility issues with Linux and OS X.
