HP COMPAQ Iris8 with Unlocked Overclocking Options
When I flashed my Iris8, I made a back up of the unmodified bios (attached).

Many thanks. Worked a treat. It does, however, in the BIOS show the computer to be a different model to mine; obviously the one from which you saved the BIOS. The BIOS is a later version (5.36) than that available from HP for my SR5640AN (5.27). I can run the BIOS service pack for my computer from Windows and it now works and takes me back to BIOS 5.27. However, it still shows the computer model as being yours. Not that I'm too worried but is there a way of changing this so that it shows the correct model in the BIOS?

Thanks again

Hello, any chance SLIC 2.1 could be added to this BIOS?

MCP61PM-HM (Iris8)

Compaq Presario SR5510F

I have found SLIC 2.1 version for Nettle but am hesitant to flash it on Iris8 due to different board layout.

Thanks in advance!

I have flashed my Compaq IRIS8 board with the BIOS that is on the first page. It works fine with the standard Athlon 64 x2 5200+ in the machine.

I splahed out and brought a Phenon x4 9350e, and put it in the system this evening. The machine does not POST and all I can do is turn is off again. I tried resetting the CMOS, but no luck Sad

Does anyone know if I can get the 9350e working on the IRIS8 ?

First of all the links on the first post are dead could someone reupload them somewhere?

I have an IRIS8 that I have soldered spdif headers on so that I could connect my graphics card for hdmi audio support. To my dismay it seems that the spdif does not show up when i go into the realtek hd audio. Could this be a bios issue or is it a missing hardware/different audio chip issue. It seems to use the same audio chip as the nettle2 and the traces to the spdif headers dont seem to be missing any components. I might end up just putting another sound card in but im somewhat limited by the 1xpcie blocked by my graphics card and having only two pci slots. I guess ill have to take out another card... sigh. Maybe if I wasnt so cheap I would just go buy another mobo. I am going to try solding on the other two sata connectors too so hopefully those work without issue since the IRIS8 bios shows the sata slots. They are always empty for obvious reason. Even if I cant get the spdif to work this bios mod seems like it would be very benifitial to me.

Double post so that I can give some of my info out. First ide like to thank thewiz for being awesome and fixing broken links within a few hours of me bringing it to his attention.

I just got done flashing my iris8 board with the bios the wiz posted. Once I got my computer back up and running with the new bios I had windows pop up with a list of about 15 new hardware devices. Among them was the realtek hd audio driver. This device now has spdif output enabled(in software at least i still have yet to test the actual sound output). Ill post back here later with the results once I find a spdif cable to connect the graphics card to the newly soldered on headers. Hope this helps somebody. Sometime in the next week ill be soldering on two more sata connectors to this board. Hopefully that works without a hitch.

On another note this bios allows phenom processors does it support the AMD Phenom 2 X4 940 without many issues?

Unfortunately we have only had one report of Phenom working on these series boards with this BIOS so I would not recommend making that investment as I have yet to find something that we can guarantee will run Phenom on.

Sorry about the links being down. There were some files (like the ones here) that were still being hosted on our dropbox and not our dedicated VPS servers. All links should be working now, and after our maintenance operations completed today the site should be running quickly as well.

@random guy: would love to see some screenshots on the SATA soldering and even your current setup.

TheWiz

Oh wow, seems that even after I read all of the thread, I was wrong to go for the Phenom x4 9350e, I guess I got to excited and pulled the trigger on buying the processor.

Now that I actually own the Phenom x4 9350e, I really want to get it going on the IRIS8 board.
I read yesterday in another thread that someone was using a abit BIOS on the IRIS8 board, although today I have spent all night looking for the post but cannot find it.

Is it possible to use a different BIOS on these forums to get the Phenom working on the IRIS8?

We are looking into that. The unlocked BIOS on the first page is in fact the ABIT BIOS. We know the Nettle3 (same chipset) natively supports Phenom, so we need to figure out what the differences are between the nettle2 and 3 to see how we can add the support in.

If I was to flash with another BIOS from a different manufacture for a similar chipset, would I brick the motherboard?
Are there any other BIOS's that I could try just to get the 9350e [/quote]at least running?

Thanks for you comments.
