[Unlocked] Acer Aspire 5755G
#31
Hey guys i just want to warn the ones of you with

Acer Aspire 7750g and a HD 6850m (only!)

Biosflash works great but u should be carefull with the settings u make.

DONT ENABLE switchable graphics or the onboard graphics chip

i and several other people did this and the notebook keeps rebooting with a black screen you can't enter the bios or windows.
A insyde bios recovery in crisis mode( fn+esc ) was impossible .. i don't know if it has to do with the bios or not maybe acer just don't want us to be able to recover the bios.

So just be aware and don't make the same mistake like me.
Happy day to you all

But isn't that fot 5750 model? is it compatible with 5755?

Guys! today I found this blog that has listed a new version (1.20) of unlocked bios for 5755G but I was not sure if it's safe to try it or not!
what would happen if something goes wrong? Is it possible to recover the original bios or should I send it back to guarantee?
I would love to hear your thoughts on this.

BTW, heres the link to the mentioned blog:

http://kyrz.net/2012/07/22/acer-aspire-5...20-modded/

p.s. using the unlocked 1.17 version provided here I faced an strange issue: my laptop would not power on with out the power cable inserted! so I'm currently using the official 1.20 version but I have some heat issues which I'm hoping to control by using unlocked version.

cheers

I also own an Aspire 5755G.
I flashed this http://www.bios-mods.com/forum/Thread-ac...r-unlocked BIOS without any Problems. Everything is working fine! Smile
The Aspire 5750G and Aspire 5755G are using the same BIOS.

TheHellSite, thank you very much for your response, after seeing your confirmation I updated my bios without any apparent issues ,
But I was hoping to be able to change my speed fan after unlocking it!
I have found the menu to do this I had 2 options one for moderate cpu temp and the other for high temp, the first one was set to 75% and the second to 100% so for the sake of testing I changed the first one to 100% so I guess it should always work at 100% speed! and I set the low temp to 50 so I guess higher temp (my CPU is always above 55 even with underclocking) unfortunatly it didn't have any effects and seems to just ignore that setting! the fan speed and tem seem to be just like before changing those settings! Sad
do you have any ideas?
thanks again,
Regards

I just realized that for me the unlocked 1.20 version has the same strange issue that I faced with the unlocked 1.17, apparently others don't have this issue, I'll try to explain:

To power my laptop on, if I unplug the power cord and use battery only after clicking the power button the lights turn on and it will instantly turn off after 2 or 3 seconds ,
but with the power cord inserted It powers up without any problem but power cord is only needed for the few first seconds and after showing the bios logo I can safely pull the power cord out with no problems , I must emphasize that for me this problem only occurs with unlocked versions of the bios.

I would really appreciate it if someone could shed a light here cause I have no idea what is going on here! I really want to keep my unlocked bios! Sad
Thanks in advance

I just found out that If hyper threading is disabled in the bios my laptop can not power on and pass the bios post! and powers off instantly but with the power cable plugged in, it will turn on alright!
can anyone confirm that please?
