HP MCP61PM-HM (Nettle2) 5.27 With Unlocked Overclocking Options
I need help with this error message
"you have a new cpu installed in your system
f1 setup
f2 load defaults and continue"

I think that this is a bios error and that is why I am posting here.

I have updated the bios and no help, I have gone into the bios and made

changes that could not be saved because the error message comes back and

when you press f2 every thing is set back to default. I have tried to tatto this

computer but every thing in the tatto takes except the feturebyte. Now for some

reason if you know about tattooing, the feturebyte should be ten block of 4

characters but for some reason on this computer it is eleven blocks of four

characters. I have no idea as to what I can do from here. I have changed nothing

on this computer, it is the same way it was when it was given to me. I need help.

Can you please help me. I want to be able to use my cool and quit on this

computer but can't because of the error message. I want to be able to boot with

out having to press f2 every time. Please help me!

I was given this hp pavilion media center m8226x computer with the following

Ok so I didn't know where else to turn. I flashed this bios onto my cmos a couple of months ago and everything worked out great. I haven't tweaked any of the settings other than the ones mentioned on the front page listed as necessary. The original reason for this was I had what apparently was a corrupted bios and figured why not right? Well now I'm attempting to install some beefier memory into the mobo but when I turn the computer on it gives me 5 beeps, a pause, then an infinite string of beeps(I stopped counting after 50). The memory appears to be compatible with the motherboard according to this page http://bizsupport1.austin.hp.com/bizsupp...=c01077676
I believe this is the memory I am attempting to install
http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-ddr2-pc...n-eol.html
I say I believe because I didn't actually purchase this memory rather it was given to me by a friend who upgraded from the ddr2 stuff long ago. The sticker on the memory says pc2 6400 2GB Dual CH Reaper Series 4-4-4 PN:OCZ2RPR800C44GK

Is this a quirk with the bios or am I missing something?

Oh I forgot to mention I have 2 sticks of this memory and tried each one individually in each slot and it seems unlikely that both are bad though I have no other means available to test them.

I still have yet to find a solution on my own. Please help.

Did you try flashing with win98dos? I know I had some crazy problems the first time when I tried flashing the bios in Vista, I don't exactly have any more advice beyond that other than to re-flash and failing that, try re-seating parts on your mobo.

Hey guys,

I know this is an aging thread but I have a question relating to the CPU voltage controls on the HP Nettle2 MCP61PM-HM board. I flashed my BIOS successfully with the modified version which gave me control over the DIMM voltage but I cannot find the CPU voltage settings.

I had a look at the other reply threads but didn't see a solution. Am I missing something or is it simply a case of the HP Nettle2 not supporting CPU voltage even after the BIOS flash?

Cheers,
(:

At one time, The Wiz had posted a special version with that option available. The option is hidden in the BIOS, but can be unlocked. I used modbin and did it myself. You can too. It's easy. I think it gives you an option for Vcore. Good luck.

Looks like this could be a voltage problem. Your memory specs say 2.20V and this bios offers 1.8 and 1.9 however I've not been able to make the 1.9V stick in 8 months of use.

I,ve also found some processors will not boot with dual channel mem configuration, this is a puzzle I haven't solved. It may have to do with the cpu's onboard memory controller. My Athlon 64x2 4600+ and 6000+ 3.1 Ghz. will not boot dual channel but the athlon 64x2 6000+ 3.0 will. The 4600+ overclocked to 2.7 single channel nicely and the 6000+ is at 3.2 dual channel and very stable.
I'm using 4 -2GB G-Skill pc2-6400 @ 533Mhz.

I hope you get it working if you haven't already.

Thumbs Up
So I have a problem and I hope you can help me with it.

I have Bios Version 5.20

I can't update to 5.27 because I have Windows 7 64-bit. The HP update won't work with Windows 7; so as far as I can tell, I am stuck with the 5.20 version.

Do I need 5.27 to mod the bios with the work and files you've added here?

Can you do anything to help me? Please?

I appreciate your time and work.

Your problem is likely dust. Dust most likely got in your circuits. All you need to do is take out your RAM; get a can of air spray for computers/electronics and go to work. Make sure everything is dusted off as best as possible; then put your PC back together.

This has happened to me in the past and it worked perfectly. My computer turned on normally.

Cheers, Dodgy
