Toshiba Qosmio F50 Bios CPU Clock
#1
Hi everybody! I've got a Qosmio F50-108. I am seeking for cpu upgrade/clock. I would really love to put a QX9300 cpu, I'm quite confident about the temps.. but I can't be sure about bios support. Chipset is PM45 on my board, which is good. I have read on Toshiba forum, a user who's been said that quad core cpus couldn't be run so he successfully putted x9100. QX9300 need less power, and ~same amount of watts. 44 for x9100 45 for xq9300. I am near to sure my motherboard have no problems to play with this cpu! ; ))

My first question - is my default bios compatible with quad core cpu's?

Is it possible my bios to be modded? Actually this expensive cpu investment could be much less necessary if I my multiplier could be opened and my current cpu get clocked! :- ))

Please give me advice what could be done. My updated bios -version 2.4 http://support1.toshiba-tro.de/tedd-file...191124.zip

Every help is greatly appreciated! ; ))

p.s. quick booting, thermal management, pci frequency and other clock/useful stuff is welcome Tongue : P

Have you tried rightmark CPU clock utility to change your multiplier? Have you tried a PLL mod (if possible) to change your FSB? I haven't seen many computers that can take a quad core with the exception of some HPs. Has anyone else done this mod on their laptop of this model?

Rightmark CPu utility also doesn't help.

I would like to ask is it true that extreme processors like x9100 are default with open multiplier?

Please if my bios mod is not possible let me know.. thank you!
