Clevo x8100 Phoenix SecureCore BIOS
#51
I'm just assuming there is a whitelist....I haven't acutally seen evidence of one. It could just be simple hardware incompatibility- but I was hoping there was a firmware/BIOS fix. Smile
The answer to your question is no: The 580 doesn't work properly- I've tried more driver versions than I care to think about. Still just sits there in the device manager as "Standard VGA Adapter".

I don't know how Clevo created graphic card "whitelist" in the BIOS. Sorry. I'm just curious, does GTX580 working properly even though it is detected as "Unknown"?

BTW, modded BIOS based on .14 BIOS is available at post #16 (page 2). The unlocked menu/sub-menu/options are exactly similar to .13 modded BIOS though.

Actually, you're correct there is some kind of "whitelist" for graphic card in the BIOS. Smile Unfortunately, I don't know how to bypass them. Sad

If you use my modified BIOS image & you like it, please consider making a donation. Thank you very much. Smile

I KNEW IT! Wink You were my last hope on the BIOS front- now my only chance is from the vbios side....flash a vbios on the 580 to make it look like a 485m maybe? Or a card that is on the x8100 whitelist anyway. I will hit up teh googles and see if I can find a modded vbios file.

Hi,

I can finally O/C my 920XM with BIOS_14 mod thank you to Kizwan !

After a lot of blue screens and a lot of dissipated heat I found optimal settings :

TDP limit = 62W (beyond 80W the laptop shutdown in stress tests so I advise not to exceed this value)
TDC limit = 62A (It seems changing this value has no effect)

1 core ratio limit = 25 (this corresponds to a 3.3 Ghz frequency, not stable at 26, I think I have a "bad" 920XM)
2 / 3 core ratio limit = 24 (3.2 Ghz)
4 core ratio limit = 22 (2.9 Ghz)

First, I tried to put 24 on 4 core ratio limit but the computer tends to shutdown on heavy requests even with a low TDP/TDC limit.

In practice, the cpu frequency stay between 2.9 and 3.3 Ghz except in bench/stress applications because of TDP limit (it slowdown to 2.5 - 2.6 Ghz)

Not bad for a 2 Ghz processor. Smile

Update:
Even though the sizes were different, I tried to flash it...and it works like a charm! Thank you sooo much!

For Info: First I flashed the 13Mod version and after that I´m now with 14Mod.

I have a question, is there now everything enabled which makes sense, or are there more hidden options?
Thank you again!

Hello,
I would like to flash my clevo x8100. It was manufactured by Deviltech.
But at the moment I´m stuck...

I think I can´t even backup my own Bios, let me explain:
First I have tried to backup my bios with WinPhlash but since you need another Bios rom like the original one from the seller... I couldn´t get them.

I have found a Util with which I could dump my Bios "Universal BIOS Backup ToolKit 2.0".
I got this file from it:
http://db.tt/4lMThwVC

It is smaller than the modified or backed up versions on this thread here...

So I tried to make a Backup with several WinPhlash Versions and the Bios I got from The Universal Backup Tool,...it ends in a -161 error...

I am running Win 7 Ultimate , 64 Bit

Thank You!

As it looks like a tradition here, i created my account to thank you, kizwan, for the modded bios. Will try it soon.

Regarding Graphic cards limitations, i heard rumors about sager releasing an official bios supporting recent graphic cards. Could be a lead to follow.

I use Clevo X8100 BIOS MOD 14 and recently bought myself a LogiLink Express Card 1x USB 3.0 mini 34mm PC0056.

What happens when I start my computer with the card is a black screen. Not even the bios startup appears.
It just sits and spins round with black screen.

Is there anyone here who has an idea if there is anything in the bios settings I can change to get this card to work.
Or do I have to buy specific cards that are compatible with my computer?

Thank you in advance for any advice I can get about my problem.

Take a left on crazy. Keep going until you hit insane. Follow that down to lunatic, turn right on insomnia, way past retarded and there you are at my place...

Hi sorry to hijack the thread...

It seems that I have the exact same bios on a different model Clevo W76CU

Here is the backup file:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/jz3x1zh8nwdx3j...000000.rom

I am seeking to unlock the bios and wondering if:
1. The unlocked bios uploaded earlier will do
2. since the bios is similar, someone could help with unlocking it
3. Where can I read more on bios unlocking, so that I can help others as well when I reach a good level of understanding?
4. Clevo claims that the laptop has a 4GB ram limit. The CPU and the chipset support upto 8GG. How can I verify if there is a bios-imposed limitation and somehow remove it?

Thanks! Big Grin

Hey!

Clevo x8100 owner here, and I want to know if the V14 modified bios disables MXM/GFX card whitelisting. I would also, like the above poster, like to know if the bios limits ram access.
