(UEFI) Dell XPS 15z L511z modded BIOS - and HOWTO
mmm, didnt tested that yet, but that probably makes sense.

did already tried that?

I am trying to modify the ME image.

at the another forum info, aparently modifing "FCIM/BTM specific ICC registers" --> "clock source" from 0x00011A33 to 0x00011A34 enables overclocking, but since the fitc.exe tool posted at the another topic mark my ME image as incompatible I am unable to do that. (scl7 has found that the leaked tool does not support 7 series chipsets, I supose that is the reason it doesnt open my image DSmile

my last resort is open one of the compatible images and change it, then compare both edited and unedited images, and look for hex changes, then I will try to reproduce the changes by manually editing my hex ME image, hopefully I will be able to get it working.

anyway help is apreciated! I think this is a little big for me alone hehe Big Grin

Just updated it on my Vostro 3450 with the firmware you provided. It worked well, but the BIOS option is still broken. However, it does display a newer firmware version. Here's the backup just in case:

a small note, I noticed the tool doesnt let me flash the old backup I did, probably not a big issue, but still being a small issue.

not sure if the old ME version can be restored by reflashing the whole BIOS.

For if anyone is still interested, here are the links to the new BIOS'es for the L511Z, L702X and L502X:

I found the ME 8.x.x version here, didnt tested it yet

http://www.mediafire.com/?w1uchjop94ypr6w

the file size looks diferent anyway compared with the 7.x.x version D:

I tried it, but it doesn't flash. Gives me this error:
Using HECI Update
Communication Mode: MEI
Checking firmware parameters...

Error 8756: Unable to read FW version from file. Please verify the update image used.

same error here :o

not sure if it is related the firmware size is different from our 7.x.x firmwares. or the image isnt valid at all, I would say the file size have a lot of importance at this part.

I was curious and reflashed full A13 bios again, but the ME firmware version didn't downgrade and is still 7.1. I guess we have to be careful with it, as there seems to be no way to get the old version back.

:o

that is kinda worring, this means if we brick or s_crew the ME we will have no recovery method, now I feel like all the effort I put on the BIOS recovery CD image has been in vain D:, at least while talking about the ME.

also I am unable to restore the backup I made from the original L502X ME, lets hope current ME version we flashed dont have any disvantages or issues.

I updated windws drivers for Intel® Management Engine Interface to 8.1.10.1275 version

firmware version still being the same, the package

edit: reuploaded links by me ^^

it also include some newer apps, now I can see some chips and dump info from them, its very interesting Smile
Code:

how I can modify the descriptor settings in order to have read access to that chip?

also got some kind of lock info

Code:
