Hello, with great interest i found and read this topic.
Some explanation first. I want to upgrade my HP 9630eb with one or two SSD's, to replace the traditional 5400RPM drive.
It is impossible though, to enable a BIOS option for AHCI.
There's not much options at all. Digging through the BIOS file, i have the impression it is possible though. As i saw some strings for SATA mode 1 to 6.
We're talking about a ICH8 chipset.
The SATA controller has this name: IntelĀ® ICH8M-E/M SATA AHCI Controller and hardware ID: VEN_8086&DEV_2829
I got the latest BIOS package version F5A http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp48001-48500/sp48024.exe
Which contains 30CCF5A.wph
I'll be glad to receive some help.
