With FTK, read Post: #24

Ok, but can you please tell me the steps to flash with this program?
format a pen drive with fat32, copy the program files and the edited rom to the pen drive, boot from pen drive and run the comands? that's it?
I didn't understand what the user Firon said here:
"Make sure the bios you flash has had the capsule stripped (the ASUS site has the capsule). I don't think fpt can handle it being there."
I'm Portuguese, English is not my native language, but it sounds like I have to do something Before trying to flash it with FTK. Could you explain that please?
Many thanks

1) download FTK HERE
2) Backup your bios -> fpt -d backup.rom -BIOS
3) Edit the bios withAMIBCP 4.53
4) Flash your modded bios -> fpt -f flash.rom -BIOS

The answer to your question, the bios that you have estract and the bios from asus site have different size !

my laptop is back from ASUS SERVICE, with the bios from 213, but on ASUS site the last is 211. Smile

I saw in your signature that you already have the 213 BIOS version. Will that come out eventually? The only reason I wanted to modify the rom is to be able to ajust the memory timings. I recently bought some corsair 2x8GB ddr3 1600 cl10 and with them, the n56vz doesn't even do the POST. Do you think this could solve de problem? Editing the BIOS to see the memory options and set the timings to a specific value?

How do you use the FTK, I have it downloaded, but I can't figure out how to use it. Also, where do you type "fpt -d backup.rom -BIOS" at?

Any help on the FTK would be awesome! I can't input the fpt -d backup.rom -BIOS, command. My FPT automatically closes after I type 2 characters!

Thanks.

You must run this command from DOS.
Create a BOOTABLE USB stick, after copying the files FTK on the pen. Turn on the ASUS, press ESC and select the pen UBS......

If you're talking about CORSAIR VENGEANCE CMXS16GX3M2A1600C10, those work very well without changing anything.

It's supposed to work yes, but in many n56vz with these memories they don't even do the POST.

There's a lot of people with my problem. That's why I think the only solution is to flash a modded BIOS with the memory options unlocked.
The memories are fine, I tested each module separately and the computer goes into windows, but with both of them (2x8GB) when I turn it on, the power led turns on and stops there. No POST, nothing...

I installed your modded BIOS on my N56VZ ES71 and my computer won't start at all! Any help on recovering my computer would be awesome! I've got the backup but I can't turn the computer on for more than a 1/4 of a second, so I don't know what to do!

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated!
