Did you manage to solve this yourself? I also have a brand new x230, and although I thought the Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 would be on the whitelist, apparently it is not.

So I too am in need of an x230's bios with the whitelist removed. Unfortunately it seems that no one on these forums has patched this bios yet; I've searched for a while.

If anyone could remove the whitelist for this bios, or inform me how to and I would do it myself, I would very much appreciate it.

- Manufacturer: Lenovo
- Model: X230
- Bios revision: 1.13 (G2ET33WW)
- Bios Type: UEFI
- Bios Download Link: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj06us.exe
- Card to be used: Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300

Thanks.

Hello everyone,
I am a Lenovo ThinkPad X230 User.
I got a Sierra MC7710 WWAN card which is not officially supported (As of 6 Oct 2012).
Officially, X230 only supports MC7700/MC7750.
(All 3 MC7700/MC7710/MC7750 are LTE Modules)

Here is the detail of my machine:
Model: 2324-DG8
BIOS Version: 2.02
OS: Win 7 Ultimate with SP1
Link to official BIOS:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj07us.exe

I got my hand on the card and drivers already. If anyone can help me to remove the whitelist from this version of BIOS, I am willing to post a report of testing MC7710 on my X230 asap.

Thanks in advance. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi !
I've been trying to remove the whitelist from my bios but with no luck (don't know where to look in the modules dumped from andy's tool).

-Manufacturer: Lenovo ThinkPad X230
-Bios revision: 2.02
-Bios Type: UEFI
-Bios Download Link: http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub...s/g2uj07us.exe

Don't know if this helps, but my current WLAN card is PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0891&SUBSYS_42228086&REV_C4

I plan on installing a PCI-E WWAN card (Sierra Wireless MC7710). Something to note is that Sierra Wireless MC7700 and MC7750 are whitelisted from factory already.

Could someone help me out? Thanks so much !! Smile

I requested this as well, same reason with yours.
Yet, no one is helping.
I tried to do it by myself, no luck.
Let's wait for Lenovo or someone nice enough to help.
Again, thanks in advance.Smile

it seems that the x230 bios still not been patched -.-
i'm very confused about Thinkpad Gobi 4000 Module needs 3 antennas, i have already installed an Intel® Centrino® Ultimate-N 6300, also needs 3 antennas, that means, there is just only one antenna avaliable for 3G/4G Module -.-

http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj09us.exe

From the README (http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj09us.txt):

[Important updates]
None.

[New functions or enhancements]
- Added support for new 10-digit part number and serial number format.
(Note)
To support the new format, rolling back to the version before 2.50 can not be
done.

[Problem fixes]
- Fixed an issue that might have screen corruption on Linux.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KNOWN LIMITATIONS

- After backing up a Windows XP system to a hard drive connected to the e-SATA
port through Rescue and Recovery, when attempting to restore the backup image

hi there,

I already posted on MDL my problem but i will also try my luck here because of no response on mdl.

these are the facts Wink

Manufacturer : Lenovo
Model : Thinkpad X230, X230i
BIOS Revision : 2.51 (G2UJ10US)
BIOS Release: 2013/01/29
BIOS Type : EFI / Insyde BIOS <-- as PhoenixTools told me Wink
BIOS ISO Link : g2uj10us.iso
BIOS EXE Link : g2uj10us.exe

maybe its easier to just replace the vendor strings instead of ful removing the whitelist checks. but i dont know how, the only way i know is extract with phoenixtools and look via hexeditor for the strings - but phoenixtools permanently give me an error..

so here are the strings maybe someone can help.

original - Intel Centrino Advance-N 6205

VENDOR 8086 DEVICE 0085 SUBSYS 13118086

86 80 85 00 86 80 11 13

replaced with - Qualcomm Atheros AR5B97

VENDOR 168C DEVICE 002E SUBSYS E034105B

8C 16 2E 00 5B 10 34 E0

thanks in advance
cheers crc

Hi

i found the module with the Wifi string in it. I replaced the string with the atheros string and rebuild the bios using PhoenixTools.

Now i have the problem that i get the error 234 message.

So no chance atm to get a modded bios flashed in X230???

cheers

btw. module is attached....
