[REQUEST] HP Elitebook 8560p Whitelist Removal

http://www.mediafire.com/?yge6g7in0tqp09r

This one is for creating a Bootable USB and flash the notebook from DOS. Just to see if the patched hpqflash is f*cking things up while in windows.

Just unpack the file put an eraseable usb stick (not the recovery one) Smile click createusb.cmd and then start. It will format the usb, make it bootable and copy there the DOS version of the flasher. Then just boot from it and we will see. Smile

When i started the Update there was a Intel Anti-Theft message, so i disabled it...
But when it wanted to flash the BIOS, i've got this error message:

"Error in file content read from disk. Please try recreating file or disk."

I checked if all the files were on the stick, 68SCF.bin looks ok to me!

Sorry, i don't know how to deal with this. If the patched hpqflash can flash the modded bios successfully then we got a problem. Sad

Hi,
first I'd like to thank camiloml for the great job you do on the forum.

I have recently bought a probook 6460b which uses the same bios download as 8560p but the bios is 68SCE. i don't really know if that matters.
I wanted to add WWAN card and decided to buy hp un2400 which is older and far cheaper. And of course I encountered the "unsupported card" message.

So naturally I'm very interested in everything considering removal of whitelist in these bioses. I'm more than willing to dig in myself if only someone would give me some pointers to i.e. software or what to look for in the bios file

cheers

Hello McOwiec,

It seems that these new notebooks from HP have a new BIOS protection and so far nobody was able to hack it down. I checked very popular russian forum and there people say the same. So far nobody had any positive results with these BIOSes because of strong encryption and additional BIOS on the motherboard that validates primary BIOS.

I found a cheap Express Card alternatives on eBay that provides the same functionality or even better (voice calls and SMS in addition) for the same or lower prices ($20-$40). It seems that this might be an easier way to go. Not that cool, like the mini PCI-E card, but no BIOS hacks and perfectly working!

Regards,
Maxim.

Thanks for the reply,
I do already have one of these, merlin x950d if I'm not mistaken. Got it from the carrier and it does work quite well. the only thing is it keeps getting pushed and pops out so often it started to annoy me Smile When I bought my 6460b I had not enough money to buy new laptop with wwan straight away. Later I found out that I actually have sim card slot and the antennas, I only need the card and i'm good to go. Or so I thought.

Doesn't really matter now. I've read enough about Camilo and I'm sure if he can't hack it, no one can Smile I won't sell the card in nearest future, maybe I can find a friend with a use for it which Ican lend it to. And I do hope someone will come up with a fix for these new probooks
Cheers

hi,

i have problem with bios, after update (through offical channel) , and then restart
laptop just died, when is on - is just black screen

this topic have most similar model,
my is HP elitebook 8540p
ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp52001-52500/sp52283.exe

i have tried all method from this topic

USB stick with
Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\68CVD.BIN
Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\68CVD.SIG
SMC.BIN

or with all caps lock
or with 68CVD.BIN and 68CVD.SIG in root folder

Laptop after i press windows key+B is restart (and one beep) after about 15-20 sec, then turn on again restart (but this time mostly dont read anything from usb)
and after is turn on for third time, then is just running (one time several hours)

after this step
i have tried to pull cable, shutdown, and then start, nothing

(before all this i have tried hard reset, several other ways with dos , but nothing,
combination with manually recovery, holding keys longer, shorter...)

and i have get usb floppy, but 1.44MB is to small when bios is 3 MB, and with compression through one version of crisis again is too large

can somebody help me?

Find probook 8540p recovery stick in my seconf folder, just execute exe and point it to a blank fat32 formatted usb stick, then do the win+b trick or four arrows trick while powering on.

tnx, but is finally resolved, after several days and countless number of methods and flashing

simple solution is that i downloaded first published bios from 2010 for this model: http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/Tec...sp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=4097214&prodNameId=4096169&swEnvOID=4059&swLang=13&taskId=135&swItem=ob-80318-1&mode=3

Steps are simple

1. You need USB stick (FAT32, not bootable)

2. Download from HP your bios update (extract them with win rar or 7z)
(then extract file from ROM package, rename Rom.bin and efibios.sig according to your number of bios - you can find them in ver.txt)

3. Put files like this on USB
Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\68CVD.BIN
Hewlett-Packard\BIOS\Current\68CVD.SIG
SMC.BIN

3 Start Laptop and press Windows key + B (about 3-5sec)
When you see that something read data from USB release keys
(it's all about feeling when you need let off this keys, so probably you need to try several times)

4 After 1-2 minute laptop will restart and you get error (press enter)
5. From this step further is all easy (your OS is booting Big Grin)

I don't know why last two version of bios have not worked in this step, but first release have Big Grin

(and latest version of bios just won't install, i have tried several methods, one time i have boot screen with success upgrade,
but after restart laptop is stuck for one hour, and then i just repeat restore which is described before)

Hello, could somebody please re-upload the mods posted by Camiloml in this thread. They've expired on mediafire and I'd like to study the works of the BIOS modding master for my personal edification ;-)
