Dell Inspiron 530 / 530s v1.0.2 Experimental Unlocking & Upgrading Project
#51
I have a Inspiron 530s and used this DellInspiron530-18-RAID87-IBA1363-AHCI120E0027-VGA1653.zip and my mobo is working like a charm, with new options unlocked, ready for install Mac OSX. Installed iATKOS_L2 (Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2) all all is OK.
Thanks Dansolo for this bios mod.

Using my Inspiron 530s (Processor DualCore E2160 1.80Ghz) now added 1 ram ddr2 module and completing 5GB, working like a charm, I remember that with the original bios only was supportting 4GB ram max but now it's more, right, finding modules for complete 8GB and test. I think that is bios modded is tweaked for support 8GB?

This looks like an amazing mod for a bios unlocking the oc features and all; however is there no way to emulate the bios on a chipset? Similar to what vbox does but for the bios? If so why not use that? If you know of one please tell me.

Edit:
I've found an emulator (bochs) that says it allows you to put your own bios in and run it. However I have not gotten it to work, mostly due to inexperience. If this is a bad way to test your custom bios due to some problem (such as the cpu fixing errors or something? I dunno.) let me know.

I tested your bios on my Inspiron 530 via virtualization with the bochs program. The program gives a few errors but it works eventually. I have added a text file including the info that bochs spits out.
.txt   custom bios test virtualization.txt (Size: 10.14 KB / Downloads: 45) I don't understand most of it but maybe it will help you in some way.

Hey guys and gals,

I had thelostbrain's raid 5 bios in my father's standard 530 with the quad core processor but forgot and upgraded it and now his raid 5 array won't work. I have not been able to find this file again and thelostbrain site doesn't seem to be working any more.

Does anybody know where I can get this bios file to get the raid array working again? Do your test bios support Raid 5?

Thanks for your help.

This one worked wonders with my inspiron 530 DellInspiron530-18-RAID87-IBA1363-AHCI120E0027-VGA1653.zip It unlocked fan controls but that's about it. It got a new splash logo that looks way more awesome. Unfortunately the computer still is not compatible with pfsense which is a disappointment. Thank you for the bios update and i will install more if you post em.

Using my Inspiron 530s (Processor DualCore E2160 1.80Ghz) now with 6GB (3x2GB) DDR2 800 modules, Gigabyte GeForce 210 (v3.0), installed Mac OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 working like a charm.

I'm new to the forum with a Dell Inspiron 530S (G33M mono, 1.8ghz Pentium Core 2 Duo, Intel built-in Graphics, 2Gb DDR2 RAM). I gave the DellInspiron530-18-RAID87-IBA1363-AHCI120E0027-VGA1653 bios a shot this afternoon and it worked wonderfully! Using it in AHCI sata mode running with OS 10.8.3 Mountain Lion. Only missing piece is the graphics. It only outputs video at 1280x1068 and I have a widescreen HD monitor. So i'm going to either throw in a useable graphic card or find a fix whichever comes first!

Thanks to the folks that put in the work to make this valuable and useful bios unlock/upgrade!!! And thanks even MORE for sharing it with us here!

Best,

NOLABeefyGuy

Could someone repost the V1.0.2 Bios because Raid in the V1.0.18 Bios does not work!
Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

That's because there's a difference between the 530 and 530s models. The standard 530 has 1.0.18 as the newest BIOS version, while the 530s has 1.0.2. Either way, could someone kindly re-upload the modded BIOSes for the 530/530s? I really want to overclock my Q6600.

Those modded BIOS do not provide any OC facility.
