Bricked HP G62-B06ED (Insyde H2O)
#1
Dear BIOS Mods users,

I've got an HP G62-B06ED laptop (HP Core i3), on the HP website I saw that 'SP55430.exe' is the latest bios for my laptop, I found an equivalent unlocked bios on this website (sp55430_UlkMenus_ByCamiloml.exe) so i decided to use the unlocked equivalent so I could:
- Switch beteen AHCI and IDE
- Use any WiFi PCIe device instead of the whitelisted (I would like to switch to Intel 6300 instead of the factory installed RaLink)

The upgrade seemed to work fine (ID and version of current and 'new' looked the same and 'compatible').

But after the flash the system rebooted and never started anymore (once in a while the caps lock led is blinking twice, which is according to the HP site related to 'BIOS corruption'.

I tried several things to restore the old or a new (HP supplied) BIOS, using [WIN] + [B], USB sticks, renaming files on the stick, disconnecting CMOS battery, etc. etc. but I don't get it done.

I'm not sure if I can apply for warranty (both age and the fact that I flashed this 'modded' BIOS).

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!
Kasper

Hi,

Have you tried renaming the file 01XX.FD to 01XX.BIN ?

Hello!
Unfortunatelly I've bricked my G62-a35er laptop with this bios mod. Maybe its because I changed platfrom.ini to show confirm dialogs. And clicked OK on dialog to reflash EC (Embedded Controller)...
Now Win+B doesn't work with HP_TOOLS partition on flash drive or hdd. I use the same bin and sig files that were flashed successfully with UEFI HP bios update tool before. Every time flash drive starts blinking only about 40 seconds after start and stops after about a minute. And caps lock blinking twice with about 6 seconds interval all the time. After 5 minutes it cat be powered off by short press power button.
Any clues? I'm thinking about flashing bios chip (and possibly EC?) but want to try other solutions before.

Hello all,

I had my laptop unlocked and everything was fine until today it decided to semi-brick.

Its a dv7-6184ca
I did the HP_TOOLS trick with a usb drive FAT and FAT32. I'm guessing it doesnt work because I don't have the right .sig file or something.

here's a link to my orig. BIOS: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp54501-55000/sp54724.exe

Could anyone help me out.

I tried all sorts of renaming files and stuff....
I've read here that some people got files made for them by camiloml and it worked well so I still have hope.

Thanks a lot.
