Asus Rampage III Extreme ZioMod Bios (Latest: 1601_S17)
(02-22-2013, 01:08 PM)ZioGTS Wrote: Running smoothly here too, but all benchmarks are pointing out slightly worse performance if compared with previous bios/driver combo. I tested 1601_S07 with Intel RST v12 beta, of course. Read performance is pretty much the same, but write has suffered from a noticeable drop in AS SSD, Anvil and ATTO... :|

I think we just need to wait for the final version of the drivers 12 series.

Hi Zio and friends,

I just updated to 1601_06 and the update went great! Thank you for all your hard work Zio.

The only issue I have and I wanted to see if others are having it, is the Rapid Storage Technology program fails to start or load. I updated to 11.7.1 for the new bios, and it seemed to install ok, and all my discs seem to be functioning ok, just the program won't start.
Some preliminary web research is pointing to a bug in the RST drivers that needs to be fixed but nothing definitive.

I would appreciate any input on this and if anyone else is having the same problem. I'm hesitant to go to v12 of the drivers until they are out of beta.

Thanks in advance,
Paul

I don't think the earlier RST drivers Intel® Rapid Storage Technology utility
likes this new Intel OROM 12 probably because of the new cache options
built into the OROM 12 that are different than the earlier OROMs.

I am using the Intel OROM v12.0.0.1783 with Intel RST drivers 11.2.0.1006
and the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology utility for those RST drivers gives
the error below in the windows Event Viewer everytime I run the utility.

IAStorUtil.StorageAction.VolumeModify action failed: FailedToCreate
IAStorUtil.StorageAction.VolumeModify action failed: FailedToCreate

If I turn off write-back cache via the Intel® Rapid Storage
Technology utility, the error above disappears.

You don`t get this error if you switch to the Intel RST 12 drivers.

I have never had this error before with Intel OROMs and RST
drivers and therefore think it's because of new cache changes
introduced in the Intel OROM 12 that earlier Intel® Rapid Storage
Technology utility don't support / are not compatible with.

Apart from the Intel® Rapid Storage Technology utility on older
Intel RST drivers not liking the Intel OROM 12, everything seems
to be performing just as good as the previous Intel OROMs.

hey ZioGTS you think you could add an update for the usb 3.0 ports , since theres newer firmware out

http://www.station-drivers.com/page/asus...extrem.htm

look at the bottom of the page

Firmware Version 4.0.2.0, since ive tried the exe but it says not found the target device when trying to update

btw i guess we should stay with 1601_S06 until the performance issue gets fixed with the stable release of 12.0 rst drivers , right and just update to the latest 11.7 whql drivers

I don't think firmware version 4.0.2.0 is meant for our usb 3.0 controller. Our controller is modal uPD720200 and the latest firmware for our usb 3.0 controller is 3.0.3.4

The firmware 4.0.2.0 is meant for usb 3.0 controllers with modal uPD720200A.

ya think ? so 3.0.3.4 would be the right one then , thats the latest and greatest ? Huh

Sinders is right. Anyway, USB chip is flashed separately from the motherboard bios. I don't think there's an OROM module for it.

Hi. I have flashed my R3E mobo with your latest bios. Everything went well. I am running a recently fresh Windows 7 installation in AHCI mode. Everything has been working fine before and after the bios flash. Except when I try to install Intel RST 12.0.0.1083. I get error "System not supported". And after that, sata drivers became a mess. Anytime I try to install RST 12.0.0.1083 everything seems to messing up. The only solution is to remove leftovers of RST, AHCI drivers etc. and reinstall Intel Inf and a previous RST. I have tried many combinations of previous Intel INF's and RST's. They all works fine. RST 12.0.0.1083 is the only one messing up and gives me an error. I have also tried RST 12.0.0.1083 WHQL that was released at Station-Drivers yesterday. Any ideas why I have this problem? (Jmicron and Marvell controllers disabled as well).

Weird... I had no issues at all with latest RST. Can you share your system specs?
