[UNLOCKED] Unlocking amd-v for Aspire AO725
#31
(04-19-2013, 01:17 PM)MrRatio Wrote: Modded v2.09 version by conghoaxa1.

- unlocked SVM support
- added SLIC 2.1 Acer

Tested, and works perfectly Smile Flasher is also unlocked so upgrade from v1.05 to v2.09 is no problem. Just run InsydeFlash.exe.

Any problems with flashing from the previous mod or the official version by using InsydeFlash.exe?

No Smile Flashing works perfectly.

Is "InsydeFlash.exe" safe?
Could the unlocked BIOS (v2.09) include some malware code that would damage my computer?

You can trust or modding it yourself Tongue

some days ago I have seen that in the Bios 2.10, on linux (I have tried only linux and only bioses 2.04 and 2.10 ), the Fn+F3 key combination doesn't work.
For a linux user seems to be impossible to switch on/off the wireless through an "hard block". With old 2.04 the Fn+F3 works well

Can you report me if you have the same problem on windows? (if possible with 2.10, or reporting what version using)

:)

I downloaded the mod and run InsydeFlash. BIOS started flashing then got the message:
Flash write error in SMI!
SMI Return Code: 0x25

Bricked my computer. Cannot turn it on. Screen "Acer Explore Beyond Limits" flashes briefly. Cannot load old BIOS (was 2.12 update already). Fn-Esc method doesn't work. Blue light flashes once and nothing happens. USB not recognized.

update: Took me ~2h to unbrick the computer. Running InsydeFlash definitively bricks my computer. installing modded BIOS worked by copying everything on USB and using Fn-Esc method (requires fine finger work and a lot of patience).

the only advised method it's the Fn+ESC with calm and cold blood

@VZD
Sorry to hear. For me all works fine.

P.S.
Exist any good drivers VGA for Windows 7? I did clean install Windows 7, installed VGA drivers and AO725 started ~50 seconds Sad. Without VGA drivers AO725 starts ~25 seconds. WTF?

i can verify insyde flash not working for 2.12 bios mod, don't know for previous versions. Use fn+esc method.

Another thing i did notice with 2.12 bios mod is slic is not working, not being recognize or something like that.

thanks for the mod anyway amd-v working great
