Is it possible to update the UEFI code?

Hi everyone,

I'm pretty new to this scene, bit earlier today I was able to use the software to unlock options in my bios, giving me access to the uefi boot mode on my Sony laptop (I'll up that soon).

I have another laptop, Asus ul20ft, which had uefi support, but it is only certain 2.0, thus Windows8 is unable to load in uefi mode. Is it possible to update the uefi code to something newer like 2.1 or even 2.3? I want to run uefi on my systems.
