I have been searching for a solution to this problem for a while now and there seems to be a solution here.
Details:
Model: U410
OS: Windows 8
BIOS ver: 65CN89WW
I have a backup of my BIOS file here :

Would someone be able to mod this for me to remove the whitelist as before?
Thank You

Look README to update. Please post results.
Hi sovem,
Thank you for all your help.
This is my first time doing anything with BIOS. Could you be more specific with your instructions to update the BIOS or direct me to instructions?
I do not know what you mean by update from pure DOS with USB bootable?
Sorry about this but I am completely new to this sort of thing and do not want to brick my laptop.
Thanks

- Create USB-bootable.
- Copy all files (in folder mod) into USB
- Boot to DOS with USB-boottable
- In DOS type flash (flash2)

It worked brilliantly!!
my problem was that my boot mode was set to UEFI so it was skipping over the USB when I restarted. Just changed it to LEGACY and DOS booted from the USB no problem.
I am now using an Intel Centrino Advanced N 6235 with much better performance.
Thank you sovem A+++++

Reqesting Whitelist removal for Lenovo U410.
I'd like to upgrade WiFi from current Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230. (planning to install a 6235).
I've tried a few of the other U410 Whitelist removals in here, but none would work for me. Some even messed with my boot loader/boot menu and forced me to manually select boot devices. Anywho... on with the request:
Direct Link to BIOS download -- LINK
Current WiFi ID -- PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_0888&SUBSYS_42628086&REV_C4
RSA Signature -- I'm not sure if the BIOS is RSA signed, because I can't actually extract a .ROM or .WPH from the download! I don't want to risk using an RSA BIOS if it's going to chance bricking my laptop. Can you help me check?
Thank you in advance. I've read many of your success stories here. It's a great thing you're doing!!

Worked beautifully! Win8 (standard edition) 64-bit, changed from Intel 2230 to Intel 6235 and didn't need to install drivers at all (although I probably will update direct from downloadcenter.intel.com). Your flash.bat worked perfectly. Made a bootable USB drive using this tutorial.
Thank you so much!!
Is it helpful for me to re-host the files for others to use in the future? Or do you prefer to make a customized version on a per-computer basis? I'm happy to host in my personal Google Drive...

Thanks for feedback.
This mod for your PC only (modified from your backup).
If using it for others - brick.
