[Request] Acer Aspire V5-552(P,G) BIOS Unlock
#1

.zip   BIOS_Acer_2.07_A_A.zip (Size: 3.6 MB / Downloads: 35) Hello all I am new to this site. I recently bought an Acer Aspire V5-552p-x617. I upgraded the ddr3 to 12gb which is more than enough for the system. I am not wanting to overclock which I wouldn't mind having the option to do so. I just want to allocate more ram to the APU. Bring it from 512mb to maybe 2gb or more or have the option to set it to whatever. I will donate to this site $20.00 usd. And to whoever creates a custom bios the same. Thanks for reading my bios is insydeh20 v2.07. I attached the file I downloaded from Acer. DO NOT execute the file as it will flash right after clicking on it does not give a choice.

Soooooooo.. Nothing Eh? Is there a price? why no response? no f-you we can't do it? Did I post in the wrong place? I'll pay money.. I checked if rsa with Andy's tool did not say anything about rsa. so whats going on? Nice way to treat a newcomer to the site moderators. I'll donate to this site also. Feel like i am ignored because I'm new.

I didn't respone because you have some unrealistic expectations. There's rarely ever any OC options hidden in the bios, and I also doubt that there's an option to allocate more memory for the APU. I didn't want you to be dissapointed by the results, so I didn't mod tyour bios.

Thank you now I know..Pretty dumb for a smart guy like you or anybody that read this thread not to give any sort of heads up. I thought that's what forums were for. "info" then what is bios unlocking or modding? And what does it do? I thought it would give the freedom of like an asus mb "for example" you bought from newegg and you can adjust the multiplier or side bus frequencies. Or what i was after assign more mem to the gpu. Good or bad at least respond people maybe you could mod my bios for me anyhow and I will still donate. I like to have freedom with a product I bought and not be locked from features hidden from the manufacturer. If not oh well my laptop is pretty cool as it sits.

There's hidden settings inside your bios that the manufacture decides that you don't need access to. One component of bios modding is unlockign these options so that they cen be accessed. Asus mobos arn't like normal consumer computers. They are designed for more demanding users, so the bios they make for them accomidates this type of people. Acers are just common consumer computers, so the bios programmers don't waste the time adding in options that are never going to be used.

Also being able to maniulate the multipliers and bus frequencies is controlled by the ME firmware, which is even more locked down than the bios for comsumer computers.

Anyhow, here's the bios with 2 hidden tabs unlocked. I haven't finished developing my Universal IFR Dumper, so I can't wasn't able to see what the options actual are Tongue

Does the flasher give you the error and refuse to flash, or do you get the error after it restarts?

What's the exact error? That way I can locate where the string is used and bypass it.

Oh, this is the bios verification protection used by v2.xx Acer bios. We can bypass this error by using Intel's flash programmign tool, fptw. You can find it here. Run the program with a cmd running as administrator. It's located in /ME Firmware 7.1.20.1119/mb_driver_intel_me_6series/CPT_1.5M_7.1.20.1119/Tools/System Tools/Flash Programming Tool/Windows64/

So run the following to make sure we can dump and flash your bios with it.
Code:
fptw64.exe -d output.bin -BIOS
fptw64.exe -f output.bin -BIOS
fptw64.exe -VERIFY output.bin -BIOS

If the first command fails, then don't run the second. If the second command gives you an error, then we're out of luck Sad

It's a no go not sure if I did it right but command prompt gives me, Error 201: [FPTw64.exe] cannot be run on the current platform. Please contact your vendor. Thanks for your time I'll buy you a beer for trying.
