[REQUEST] Acer Aspire M1100 (M3100, M5100) BIOS Unlock
#11
Take a look at the official acer site and notethe following:--

Do they havbe the same motherboard?

Is the latest bios revision the same?

Is the bios download file name the same?

Id the latest bios release date the same?

If all these are true then there shouldnt be a problem :d

here is where I found my bios:

http://support.acer-euro.com/drivers/des...m5100.html

the download works for the acer m1100, m3100, and the m5100 so that means I can flash the modded bios right?
by the way has anyone used it and confirmed that it works? Huh im having doubts after reading the 8 page long discussion on the m5100 bios Big Grin

You take the risk if you flash , it doesnt matter its been previously confirmed , it could still fail to flash properly!

Good Luck!

Tthere is a major thread discussion for the 5100 going on in the unlocked forum section, I suggest you read it all very very carefully.

Hello All,

I understand that there is several models of the Acer 1100/3100/5100 unlocked and floating around, but I also know that many people have reported that it bricked their system.

With this in mind, I have backed up my bios, to allow the powers to be, to look at it, and unlock it, if possible. I personally am not interested in overclocking the beast, but I *AM* interested in getting Virtual PC enabled, and this requires that the Virtual settings in bios are enabled. They Are enabled in my CPU and several programs say it only needs bios support turned on.

I have no need to mess with my SLIC, As I use a non OEM, non SLIC Windows 7 64x Authorized copy.

To Start, I have made a copy of the bios on my system, This was done with Award Bios Flash Utility 8.71 // Options : /pn/sy (See it attached)

If you read the most recent post, one of our members has discovered the corruption issues are usage with the older versions of MODBIN, our editing tool. We will be making new versions to fix that, and I'll look at yours as well.

If Scuttlebutt is correct, I'm told there is a newer version of modbin out?

Wondering if it is working ??

Thanks in advance for the update!

Managed to unlock multiplier settings , voltages , virtualization , DRAM configuration (RAM Overclocking) , PCIE Configuration , IGX configuration , HT Link control settings , Frequency/Voltage Control submenu , load fail safe defaults.

Note that there was also a few extra options under pc health like tempterature and voltage readouts. However , we have discovered that activating these options tends to corrupt the bios ,especially in the case of Acer bioses. Therefore , we have not unlocked these options.

Remember that you flash this bios at your own risk!
