[Request] Remove HP ENVY 14 Sleekbook k-022tx SSD boot restriction
#1
Motherboard Manufacturer and Model: HP ENVY TouchSmart 14-k022tx Sleekbook
BIOS Revision: F.15
BIOS Type: InsydeH2O
BIOS Link: http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp64001-64500/sp64348.exe

Remove after market SSD boot restriction which was first introduced in BIOS version F.14. Previously, restriction can be bypassed by choosing legacy boot. However in F.15, restriction occurs for both UEFI & legacy boot.

HP claims that the mSATA SSD that ships with this laptop can only act as a cache. This has been proven false as I have replaced it with a 128GB mSATA SSD which I can install Windows and boot from prior to BIOS version F.14.

That's right. I have also similar HP ENVY 14t-k100 with F.15 InsydyneH20 BIOS
I removed mSata cache 24GB SSD and put 256GB mSata SSD.

This BIOS does not allow to boot from mSata! Sad

InsydyneH20 wrote me, that BIOS is modified by HP, so HP can help. But as it is widely seen on forums, HP does not want to allow booting from mSata. Wrrrrr....

So modyfing this BIOS would be really great! Smile

Regards,
Greg.

SP6 bioses are not moddable atm, try to solve it downgrading the BIOS to one that has not the restriction. extract the BIOS update program open platform.ini and set version_check flag to 0 and run insydeflash.

The latest bios version F.18 for this Envy 14-k(???)tx Sleekbook series is here:
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp66501-67000/sp66576.exe

A lot of users want to get rid of the small SSD cache that comes with the machine. We also need SATA AHCI option for the new SSD device. It will be great if the advanced menu can be unlocked. Users of the entire series can benefit.

Many thanks.

It seems our bios for this machine is RSA signed and cannot be modded easily. I suppose we have to give up. What I can do is not to buy any HP machines again.
