[REMOVED]Compaq CQ61-240ED F.21A(Broadcom BCM4311)(VEN_14E4&DEV_4311&SUBSYS_1375103C)
#1
I would love to get my bcm card working on this laptop instead of the 104 error.
Or be done with the whitelist alltogether Big Grin Is this possible? Undecided All I could find was this
The latest bios I could find is here.

current
atheros 5007 ar5bxb63
hardware id's
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_137B103C&REV_01
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&SUBSYS_137B103C
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&CC_020000
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&CC_0200
compatble id's
PCI\VEN_168C&DEV_001C&REV_01

PCI\VEN_168C&CC_0200
PCI\VEN_168C
PCI\CC_020000

hope to use

PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4311&SUBSYS_1375103C

Thanks for the mod, the good news the laptop still boots, the bad news is the card is not accepted (same old 104 error during boot). My supplied info is from windows 7. I did notice in osx it tells met the vendor is 14e4 without the capital e (14E4) don't know if this makes any difference I do not know where to find the subsys id in osx. According to windows it is with capital E as in my copy paste from the windows device manager.

Any chance something went wrong with the mod?

Again thanks for the effort.

If its the same link (above) alas it still gives the dreaded 104 error Sad
The "good" news is the other card is no longer working either so you must be in the right place...

I opened the .fd file with a hexeditor but could not find anything recognizable so unless there is a guide somewhere I'll depend on you pros Smile

Once again thanks for the effort!

going through the devicemanager in windows again to double check:

Matching device id:
pci\ven_14e4&dev_4311&subsys_1375103c

still the same 104. In an effort to find more info. I found a servicemanual for my laptop apparently it accepts the following cards:
■Atheros AR9280 802.11a/g/n
■Atheros AR2425 802.11b/g
■Atheros 802.11 b/g/n
■Atheros 802.11 a/b/g/n
■Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g
■Intel Wi-Fi 5100 802.11 a/b/g

I'm trying to find out the ven/dev/sub of these cards but have had not much luck so far. This is what I've found

BCM 4312 could be: 14e4:4315 subsystem unknown... I found this info:
%BCM430G_DeviceDesc% = BCM43XG12, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4311&SUBSYS_1364103C
%BCM430M_DeviceDesc% = BCM43XM12, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&SUBSYS_1361103C
%BCM430G_DeviceDesc% = BCM43XG12, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4311&SUBSYS_1375103C
%BCM430M_DeviceDesc% = BCM43XM12, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4312&SUBSYS_1371103C
%BCM430NM_DeviceDesc% = BCM43XNM12, PCI\VEN_14E4&DEV_4328&SUBSYS_1367103C

for the intel 5100 I found this:
PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4232&SUBSYS_12018086&REV_00

so if the service document is correct the bcm4312 should be in the whitelist and I guess in that case one of the above is in there, maybe its easier to change than the atheros?

too bad my card is 4311 instead of 4312 on the other hand the subsystem id's might differ...
There are quite a few assumptions in this post but it might help?

I wont give up!

once again , please try the download link again.

I found the Intel 5100 reference (it was actually splitinto 2 parts) and replaced the ids with the new card , so in theory it should now work!

good luck!

Theory is one thing, reality another... Undecided
Lucky for me theory has become reality whoopie! Tongue
The Atheros is no longer accepted but The BCM is, and working nicely in osx86 Smile
Thanks again!

(ps I made a small donation!)
