Hi guys, just wanted to post a warning to say that my aspire v5-131 is now dead. The bios flash worked perfectly, but changing the video memory allocation appears to have corrupted the bios somehow and the machine no longer boots - the power lights come on, fans spin up, but the screen stays off and after a few second it shuts off. I've tried using a crisis drive and that fails - the machine goes into crisis mode (fans at full speed and stays on) but doesn't appear to actually access the drive (to read/flash the new bios) at all.
A repair shop has quoted me $300 to replace the motherboard, but that's as much as a new machine.
If anyone has suggestions I'm willing to try pretty much anything at this point. Cheers.
