prr2 can't be fixed error 280.

What about flash in recovery mode (crisis)? Oh well they'll need Full dump right, and i Doubt they got ME region unlocked to dump, so either you guys find out how to dump Full BIOS or wait for lenovo to release a update so that you can use crisis to flash
Only solution is one of you provide backup with a external EEPROM flasher..

What kind of EEPROM programmer would be required? Keep in mind I'm a retired pro software dev (no problem with low level software, x86 assembly, etc.), but haven't dealt with actual ROM programmers in years (well, decades).

Thank you I will check into it. Been on vacation, so no time to look into it yet...
One thing I'm curious about is whether I have to desolder the chip in order to work on it, or can these devices connect directly to the chip while it is on board?

adding what felipejfc suggests, you can also check following thread:

hope it helps.

Thanks for those links! Perhaps they'll answer my other question regarding how to physically go about this. Should be interesting...
Edit: This guide looks really awesome/complete. And I can see now, I'm going to be purchasing some new tools to accomplish this...
This is my last detail to be resolved for getting OS X working well on this machine (most everything else is working).
Thank you so much for the information...

RehabMan, Using the test clip I send the link to, you can flash without needing to desolder the chip...

rehabman,
if you don't mind, can you tell us which way you pick for your project?
test clip or replace the chip?

I haven't even purchased the materials/tools yet, as I don't have the time for such a project right now. This is all new stuff for me, so it will take a while. I don't want to turn my laptop into a brick. It would be nice to do it without pulling the chip, so I'll see how it goes.
