Look README to update. Please post results.

Hi sovem,

i am unable to update BIOS from MS-DOS command line, because thet phoenix utility
gives me the info that this bios is not authorized and the update procedure is aborted after that.

I don`t see any option in my BIOS that could deactivate "athorization check" of the ne bios files.

I tried also to run my Huawei 3G with the pin 20 tapped, but it gives me same error like w/o tape :/

Anyway I´m going to wirte an email to Lenovo to make a complain regarding those problems Sad

Grtz from Poland

!!!UPDATE!!!

It is working!
But I tried once again using that method:
http://speedy.sh/pfmdX/ThinkPad-x220-1.3...emoval.rar

I made one error first time not installing my battery that was sent to lenovo service center, but I borrowed next one and in the log file everything was ok.
Thanks folks!

Now it os time for donation Smile
ciao

Hi Ciao,
Could you confirm that sovem's WL-removed-only BIOS also works with 3G WWAN?
Really appreciated!

I want to use non-Lenovo-branded Ericsson F5521WG 3G with my x220. Could someone confirm with me that sovem's BIOS also works with WWAN.
Thank you in advance!

(I realise this post is 6 months old but it's still one of the top results for latest BIOS 1.39 on X220.)

I had the same message, however I was booted to Windows PE.

I ran "winflash.exe /sd /sv", selected the $01CB000.FL1 file as shown, turned on "Verify block after programming" in advanced and I now have a BIOS that can load non-whitelisted Wifi cards (Atheros AR5B225 here.)

Thank you sovem!!

(NB: Definitely definitely run the normal flasher tool first to verify "no update needed", this confirms you have the matching factory BIOS version to begin with.)

I also run Debian GNU/Linux and had no native Windows machine. You can build a legitimate WinPE rescue image from Linux using wimlib.

The instructions here give you a good start:
http://www.webupd8.org/2013/07/how-to-cr...e-iso.html

Rough steps:

- Download the Windows Automated Installation Kit (WAIK) ISO image direct from Microsoft (link at webupd8, above.)

- Mount the WAIK ISO image somewhere on your system (I used /mnt/iso)

- Build and install wimlib from source (also described at webupd8 link.)

- Create an "overlay" directory that contains the modified BIOS flasher files that you want to run (this turns up in the root of X: when you boot the PE image.)

- Run mkwinpeimg something like this (to create a bootable USB lenovo_bios.img file that can be copied to a USB stick with dd.)

Code:
mkwinpeimg -A /mnt/iso -O /path/to/overlay/ lenovo_bios.img

(Note that the Lenovo winuptp.exe will refuse to run in this PE environment due to lack of oledlg.dll. You don't need that DLL to run winflasher.exe, but if you want to run winuptp.exe instead for some reason then you can use the cabextract tool to extract Neutral.cab from the PAIK iso, then a suitable copy of oledlg.dll can be found inside the inner cab file F_WINPEOC_X86__WINPE_WINPE_HTA.CAB. After extracting oledlg.dll, copy it to the same directory in the overlay as winuptp.exe before creating the image.)

Hi!

Due to eGPU usage and TOLUD problems in BIOS versions greater than 1.11 i need to have 1.11 with removed whitelist (using modem and wlan card)
I know it existed before, but all links are broken.
Could somebody post it again or just remove whitelist from official BIOS:
http://download.lenovo.com/ibmdl/pub/pc/...uj03us.exe

Thanx a lot in advance.
