[Project] SHE and AHCI BIOS mod for ASUS EeePC 1000H
#81
Thank You very much.

I had an issue with the new BIOS not appearing to finish installing. In case other people find the same, I've put here the steps I did & all turned out fine.

(1) On 18/5/2014, on a separate Windows 7 PC, I downloaded the 2204 BIOS (2009.10.26 update) from http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=EEE+PC+1000H%2fXP&p=30&os= selecting the 'Global' link (which bypasses other download managing crap) to actually download just the file '1000H-ASUS-2204.zip'.
(2) When downloaded, unzipped by right-click 'Extract All'.
(3) Opened unzipped '1000H-ASUS-2204' folder.
(4) Renamed '1000H-ASUS-2204.ROM' as '1000H.ROM'.
(5) Copied '1000H.ROM' onto freshly (FAT32) formatted 2GB (but anything 1GB or above is fine) USB flash drive.
(6) Removed flash drive from host PC & inserted to (switched off) Asus 1000H PC.
(7) Switched on Asus 1000H & pressed 'Alt + F2' at the 'F2' prompt.
(8) Left 1000H for five minutes (no 'press the power button to restart' prompt - or anything else - appeared).
(9) As 1000H appeared to be still reading the '1000H.ROM' file, I pondered what to do. Now worried, pressed & held power button until 1000H powered down.
(10) Removed flash drive.
(11) Turned on 1000H, pressing 'F2' to boot into the BIOS.
(12) Checked BIOS version which read 2204. Everything else seemed to be as it should.
(13) Quit BIOS and booted into O/S (mine just happens to be a pre-installed Linux Mint 16) & found everything works as it should.
(14) Stopped sweating!

Why my 1000H didn't display any message to say it was finished installing the new BIOS I've no idea.

I really hope the above helps someone.

Hi, I'm trying to download 1000H-ASUS-2204GT-01.RAR, how do I get it, I'm logged on as user but don't seem to be able to download the file that is attached to some of the postings. What am I missing?

Need it to upgrade an Eee PC 1000H to Win 7 ultimate and 250 Gb SSD.

thanks, regard,

JST

Cheers

First of all, my gratitude to the developer (using my SSD without libata-dma errors now),
to give some information regarding the process of flashing:

This is the result of troubleshooting my experience:

1) Make sure that the USB-Thumbdrive is formatted with MBR-Partitiontable (msdos) and the Partition consiting the 1000H.ROM is the first,
2*) The Partitiontype should be FAT16 (not w95fat16)/fdisk or Microsoft basic data (0700)/gdisk
*mostly concerns linux-user, your best bet would be using gparted because you should(!)
3) align the partition to _cylinder_ instead of megabyte/byte, thats especially true if you get an infinite "READING 1000H.ROM" (also true for the 1001HA)
4) if you get the infinite-reading, try adjusting the partition to a lower size, i mentioned that i can't get it done with a 512MB partition, but a 32MB partition did always work (everytime on my 1000H and the one time i had to on my brothers 1001HA)

I always use usb2.0 thumbdrives for doing something 'hardware'-related, some of my notebooks didn't boot with usb3.0 attached drives (reading usb-info) or can't access usb3.0 until the O/S loads the appropriate modules.
I cant agree with those saying that you have to use a small usb-drive from the beginning, although the partition size made it for me always (using a 16GB usb-thumbdrive all the time, with just this single partition).

I'm using the GT image.
Rebooting doesn't work and i did not try hibernation by now but i'm investigating.

With kind regards,
frig

Any chance to unlock AHCI on a "eee PC 900" (XP) ? (BIOS 1006) Smile

Started a discussion here already, in case any other unlock is possible.
This thread here reads quite interesting and I hope some of you guys are still around. Smile

It took me few hours but I figured it out.

1. Format with Rufus and click the Freedos option
2. download AFUDOS Utility for DOS from ASUS
3. Copy AFUDOS & ROM to USB Drive
4. Shut Down, turn on, then press ESC to boot the USB Drive
5. Afudos /i 1000h.rom to flash

Unfortunately I can't use the any of the mods on my 1000h.
Every time I reboot, it will not detect my HDD. The message "Reboot and select proper boot device" comes up. I can remove the battery and it would detect until the next reboot.

1. I am not using original HDD, it's a 500GB WD
2. I am using Windows 10 Pro TH2
3. 2GB RAM

UPDATE: It might be my HDD, it crashed this morning.

An update to my situation.

I got a new HDD, flashed ROM, and fresh installed Windows 10.
If I use Super Performance Mode and restart, it will show the "Reboot and select proper boot device" and my HDD won't show up on bios.
If I use High Performance Mode, it will be normal.

Thanks a lot! It worked perfectly.. but i used Afudos /i1000H.ROM without the space between /i and 1000H.ROM in order to work. Also thanks to the creator of the bios!
