[REQUEST] Packard Bell EasyNote TE69HW BIOS Unlock
#1
Hello. Subject notebooks are not accepting any RAM except for the one preinstalled. Might it be whitelisted? If so, can it be removed?
I don't have any camera at hand to snap my bios, but I've uploaded the .bin to Google Drive.

It sounds more like hardware compatibility issues with your computer. The only unique identifier on the ram dimms is their serial number, and creating a whitelist for those would require constant updates since no two serial numbers are the same. They make a lot of different types of ram, and your computer is only meant to work with one kind. Usually the manufacturer of your computer will have a drivers and support page where they have this kind of information.

I know, right Smile I've tried all sorts of compatible RAM. Then I went down to the store where I bought my notebook. They took out another te69hw and it didn't accept any RAM as well. I called up Packard Bell, but the guy on the phone said that he is not aware of any whitelisting and that "it should work". He didn't sound professional at all. He wasn't even aware that there's a single slot edition of this notebook.
You gave me an idea. I'll go to the store again and will swap RAM with the exact same one from another te69hw.

Ok friend,
your Bios Mod with Slic 2.1 + Menu Tabs Unlocked v.2.13 here :

Create an USB Dos Formatted Fat32 Stick and copy the Recovery File V5WE2X64.fd into, so use the Recovery Procedure :

http://rghost.net/56310963

- Performing the emergency flash:

- Shutdown the netbook (notebook)
- Remove all peripheral devices
- Remove battery, Remove AC power cord
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (battery and AC power still out), then release
- Put the USB Memory Stick in the USB port
- Hold "Fn" + "Esc" and plug the AC power cord in
- Now press the power button (whilst still holding Fn + Esc).
Wait until the fan will run, then release "Fn" + "Esc" keys
- The fan will run for about 2-10 minutes and the USB drive activity LED will blink
- I think the netbook rebooted automatically. If it doesn't, unplug the AC power cord once the fan has turned off

The bios should be updated with the modified BIOS, and boot as per normal.

Let me know
regards

This file is for Recovery Procedure, so It will be flashed without problem !
Another way is make an your Bios Backup and Mod It for reflashing by Intel FPT
but this one It will be only for your laptop as contains your Significant Data :

Run this tool as Administrator and upload here the result file !

Before I try to flash it using the Emergency Procedure you wrote, I would like to have a back up copy in case something goes wrong. I extracted the BIOS I downloaded from the official site, but there are no .rom or .fd files. How do I go about this, and the DOS flash?

Ok fiend,
how many questions and how many doubts !
your Bios is compressed into executable (.exe) file, so only executing It You'll be able to get It into Temporary Windows's Folder = %TEMP% !
So to extract It run V5WE2213.exe and before flashing It open a folder and digit into path %TEMP% and go to temp folder there You'll fin a sub-folder with all files and InsydeFlash.exe too !
You have to copy that folder on the desktop to get your files before deleting them from S.O. !
Another way is open the executable file V5WE2213.exe by Hex Editor (HxD e.g.) and following my Guide extract Capsulated Bios which will be Decapsulated and usefull for Recovery Mode !
I have to say that Bios Capsulated if used to Recovery It will Brick Laptop !!!
So all this stuff is more complex than normal !

Thi is my Guide :
http://rghost.net/52544682

This is your Bios Decapsulated recovery File v.2.13 :

http://rghost.net/56322467

Let me know
regards

P.S. the Recovery File Mod Bios is the same as normal Recovery File only have Slic and Advanced Menu and result file is your Bios Backup !
