Dell Inspiron 14z 5423 Bios Recovery Issue

Hi, if someone can help me i'll be deeply i his debt.
My laptop is bricked so I need to get the .wph file of the 5423A00.exe or 5423A13.exe update file provided by Dell Official Sites in order to do the steps described in the Phoenix Bios recovery thread. Or i can rewrite the .hdr file(as BIOS.wph) that i get when i execute /writeromfile command?

Hello d3n7s,

I have downloaded the 5423A13.exe BIOS update file. Dell archives are usually difficult to extract. I will post the BIOS file once I am able to extract it.

I have extracted the BIOS file from the Dell archive. This file can be found here.

I had to use the [file.exe] /writeromfile command to get the .rom file out of the archive, where [file.exe] was the name of the Dell executable.

I have succefully flash the bios. I will explain now the steps that i have performed:
1. Download the bios update from Dell Official Site.
2. Extract the bios from the downloaded xxxxx.exe using /writehdrfile or /writeromfile command, in order to get a xxxxx.hdr/xxxxx.rom file that will be used to perform the flash.
3. Format in FAT a USB mem (is recommended to use a USB stick under 1gb)
4. As my Bios was type Phoenix i use a tool named Phoenix Tool v2.57 that i downloaded from https://www.sendspace.com/file/4mxx21 or http://www.datafilehost.com/d/b4bc4644
- With this very helpful tool and following the steps explained in http://forums.mydigitallife.info/threads...Bios-Files I get the correct name for my bios that is needed to rename the file that I already had, in my case BMWZ4A13 (couse i was using 5423A13 update) so i renamed my file with this name.
5. Copy the renamed file BMWZ4A13.hdr to the formatted USB stick.
6. Disarm the laptop, remove the battery and battery clock.
7. Insert the USB stick in the USB port (in my case i insert it in the left side, couse in the right it wouldn't work)
8.Once i have inserted the USB, I press the END key and plug the power cord, the laptop start itself and the USB mem start to work, then i realease the END key and the Laptop after 30 seconds restart and ......
VOILA!!! it WORKS!!!

Same laptop, same issue but i have 3 beeps when i plug the power cable and the laptop seems doesn't read the usb stick. I followed step by step your method without sucess. What can i do?

Hi, well the problem that happens to me was that i perform a bad flashing process then i got the "famous" black screen at system startup. Then when i tried to perform the flash again i recieve a 3 beeps back from the motherboard(in the list of beep codes from a Dell motherboard that means replace your motherboard, keyboard problem or another thing that i could not remember right now) of course that i freak out, then i dig a little bit searhing for information of what i could did wrong in the process the i come up with the workflow i explained in my post, but first before i start the process i remove the clock battery in order to leave any bad flashing process out of the system memory, if you dont know one of the properties of the clock battery is to maintain power in the motherboard in order to keep save the changes made on the BIOS, so if you havent done that i advice you to do it, the do the rest of the process i post. If that doesn't work let me know.
