m2n-mx cpu support
#1
hey there,

has anyone been able to readd the amd Athlon x2 6000+ cpu support to the latest bios update.

if not could someone do it,, I don't have any other cpus laying around and I cant get past POST due to "CPU Not Supported, Shut Down In 15 Seconds"

the last bios version I know had the cpu support was 0504,

here is the link to the newer update

watching the cpu support list
http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M2NMX/HelpDesk_CPU/
It seems supports the highest power limits 65w,i think this is the main reason ,after all it can be support X2 5600+(65w) .

This is my conjecture.

i know but the old bios was able to support it,, and it wont let me downgrade the bios to an older one so I can use my cpu

DOS flash tools will allow downgrades AFAIK .

It is a type ami 8.0 bios not an award bios .
AFU236U.exe is a flash utility within the dos environment ,it can be use parameter to
force flash bios to downgrades bios .you can google it....

Flashing bios perhaps be bricked of many reasons,if you didn't have ability to recover bios by yourself,i hope you not to do it.....(it's very important, because you would got a black screen)
This motherboard used older type plcc chip to save bios,if you have a hard programmer, you can write data and recover it easily .(remember to backup the original bios )
