[Request] Unlock bios Gateway NE56R
#21
I too am having a problem. I flashed the corresponding OEM BIOS then successfully flashed yours. Booted into Windows a couple times then did dumb stuff. I accessed the BIOS and changed the video memory setting and a CPU setting that asked me what size power brick i had. (Sorry, cant remember its name). Now the notebook doesn't do much. When powered on, it will light up and spin fans but boot loops before any POST at all. Im trying to recover either the OEM or your BIOS using the esc+fun key at boot but so far it just sits there not doing anything, but not boot looping either. Ive also tried to reset the CMOS by pulling the battery from the motherboard but that hasn't yielded any love either.
Any suggestions?

So i ordered a new BIOS. Removed the factory chip and soldered on the new chip. Checked for bridging and.... still nothing. Whatever that CPU setting was did a great job at killing this notebook. TIL, just stick with the factory flash.

Help!!
My ne56r won't boot up. It just turns on and it doesn't even turn on the screen, only the power leds. I messed around with the icc settings(pretty much overclock) and now, when it turns on, it just stay stuck in there. I removed the cmos battery and no avail. I also tried re-flashing the bios and it only enters recovery mode but won't boot up the usb. Does anybody have any idea of how I can fix this?

I'm new to this site, and am not sure if I'm doing this correctly. I want to have a mod for the current BIOS on my Gateway laptop. The model is in the subject. What I want to be able to do is modify the amount of dedicated memory towards Intel HD Graphics. That option, in this laptops current BIOS, to edit the dedicated memory, is not available. It is not selectable either. If anyone could do anything to help me with that, that would be great.

Recovery File :

http://rghost.net/58688228

Your Bios Recovery Name is Q5WV1X64.fd so format and USB into Fat32 Dos Mode and copy into your USB and use the Recovery Mode :

- Shutdown the netbook (notebook)
- Remove all peripheral devices
- Remove battery, Remove AC power cord
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (battery and AC power still out),
- then release
- Put the USB Memory Stick in the USB port
- Hold "Fn" + "Esc" and plug the AC power cord in
- Now press the power button (whilst still holding Fn + Esc).
Wait until the fan will run, then release "Fn" + "Esc" keys
- The fan will run for about 2-10 minutes and the USB drive activity LED will blink
- I think the netbook rebooted automatically. If it doesn't, unplug the AC power cord once the fan has turned off

The bios should be updated with the modified BIOS, and boot as per normal.

let me know
Regards

P.S. if You want to change Eeprom consider to buy an SPI Programmer look here :
