Hi All,
I've spent hours trying to modify the BIOS for this machine using the official method (from https://www.bios-mods.com/wiki/How_to_Re...nsyde_BIOS ), however after trying to use several versions of the Ezh2o tool I had to give up since none of them would open the BIOS file.
Is there anybody who is capable of unwhitelisting that BIOS?
Manufacturer and Model: HP Mini 210-2000
BIOS revision: Insyde, F.24
BIOS link: http://h30639.www3.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp...p55494.exe
If needed, screenshots of the system overview in the BIOS can be attached.
There's not a single unwhitelisted version of this BIOS on the net; I found one single link from 3 years ago, however the sendfile container didn't exist anymore.
It's a nice machine that's being used daily - and now, in order to extend its life, there's a modern wi-fi adapter lying around, just waiting to get used with that machine.
If somebody manages to do this, this would be like x-mas and and easter (umm?) at once. I'm gonna send a manually signed postcard including x-mas present to whoever manages to unwhitelist this (no joke, you have my word!).
Thanks a lot,
Haggi

Regards Hey BDMaster, that is so amazing, thank you sir!!
Getting this to run would be the best present ever I got the impression that the computer I was using the Ezh2o tool with, doesn't run Ezh2o properly, which is why I keep the errors when trying to open the BIOS image. The image file should otherwise be pretty standard and it should be possible to edit it like any other Insyde BIOS image.
Please let me know if you need any other information and I'll provide a quick reply!

Ok, I believed I found it. I saved the changes with Phoenixtool, renamed the .fd file to it's original name and then took the risk to try and flash it, but the HP flash tool showed an error saying "The BIOS image is corrupted or does not contain the correct digital signature. The system BIOS will not be updated."
Any hints on what to do now?
EDIT: Ok, seems like this is normal and I gotta patch the flash tool ...trying that right now.
EDIT 2: I made it!!! flashed and the machine booted without issues!! now I only need to replace the wi-fi card (will have to wait a bit, so later tonight or tomorrow) and if it works the thread can be closed!!

Hi BDMaster!
Yes, I patched iscflash.dll and the result is attached; it works flawlessly.
I modified it in the three relevant places (offsets 1000E070, 1000E330 and 1000E4A0) .
It's the iscflash.dll from the archive referenced in the link in my original post
that I modified and attached.
Regarding the BIOS itself:
In the BIOS file, the relevant module is the following:
offset 00004970 is:
59 84 C0 75 F4 6A 03 E8 E3 05 00 00 0F B6 C0 83
I changed it to
59 84 C0 EB F4 6A 03 E8 E3 05 00 00 0F B6 C0 83
(therefore only changing the "75" to "EB").
After modifying the iscflash.dll, I could indeed flash this and the Netbook booted. I now physically installed the wi-fi adapter, but what I didn't expect was the following:
The wi-fi adapter has built-in bluetooth functionality as well (which I don't even plan to use) and this ruins it for me...
the BIOS checks and finds a bluetooth device and therefore refuses to boot.
Modified BIOS file download link: https://www.sendspace.com/file/zubzo7
Modified iscflash.dll download link: https://www.sendspace.com/file/n288mg
Do you have any idea on how to bypass this Bluetooth device check/block?
Thank you so much,
Haggi

Hey BDMaster, I found another interesting part in the code of module 91472655-50E0-4D81-9AF6-239E6F431B8C_922.ROM "StartUpMenu":
around the following offsets:
seg000:00002E40 83 C4 18 84 C0 75 05 43 3B DE 72 CD B8 00 01 00 â-ä+uC;Ìr-©..
seg000:00002E50 00 50 89 45 F0 E8 06 20 00 00 8B 75 14 50 89 06 .PëEÞ ..ïu¶Pë
Can you clarify whether this might be an infinite loop? Might this actually be the thing we are looking for?
Or is the above completely unrelated and we should leave it as it is?
