I modified the post so people know it's safe.
First, I wanted to thank Toxatec for providing a means to breath some life into an ancient IP35e I found. Using your modded bios I was able to not only build a useful system, but I even managed to install Yosemite on it, and thats with a Xeon E5420 that is reporting temperature correctly. Kudos, really.
I do have one problem that I cant seem to figure out. The system will not enter sleep- not S1, not S3, not in any OS. Is there a known issue in my system combination, eg IP35e, ip35e-beta18-ahci beta bios, xeon e54xx? If not, any advice as how to troubleshoot?

Strange thing, because Toxtec's BIOS nothing changed to me. So I got hacked version of this BIOS from one guy mhanor from Romania, but in BIOS temp control is disabled. But Windows showes it correctly.
There is one official fix about S3 but I dont know if this work for you. Besides mhanor also doesnt think that it would work for me and made another fix, but it is also not safe. But you have got other issue, so maybe contact with him if its about sleep issue. http://forums.hexus.net/abit-care-hexus/...ost2008371

I was looking at that fix, but have not tried to implement. In mhanor's application the system was entering sleep but VT-X (maybe other functions as well) were left in a limbo state on wake; my problem is that the system will not enter S3 at all. I'm guessing these issues may be related but beyond my ability. I'll see if any of the other thread principals would still be paying attention.
Can you tell me if that bios referenced on hexus.net has AHCI enabled? if so, I'll just try to use it instead.

I suggest you to contact with mhanor. He still uses IP35-E. He is very kind person. Really.

Thank you. I posted on hexus.net, hopefully he is still monitoring that thread.

Hi, I downloaded the ahci unlocker bios made by toxic. Would this work on the Abit Ip-35v as well? Also the overclocking options from my (standart) bios will still be there, yes?

Any thoughts on my situation? I had IP35-E + E7200 (OCed to 3.5x), applied this update, and it worked great. 850Evo read went from 2xx MB/s to 3xx MB/s!! Thanks!!
I bought another Core2Duo CPU + mboard + ram off ebay (CPU was "grab bag" from various pulls) to build a system for a friend, and lucked out with a Q6600!! So, swapped E7200 into friend's machine (my $$, so they get what they get), put Q6600 into same IP35-E upgraded with this BIOS. Also good.
In order to sort out some RAM speed mismatch issues (had 1 DDR2-667 stick instead of an 800 in the mix), I had to open up my other machine running a Q9550 on an Abit IP35 (not E). Since that's just a generic server, I thought I'd use the Q9550 on the IP35-E for gaming. No go. Wouldn't post. Tried clearing BIOS 3 or 4 times. Nothing. Put the Q6600 back in, posted 1st try.
Put the Q9550 back into the IP35, and it started just fine (333 x 8.5) as well.
Any reason to suspect the Q9550 microcode is NOT in this patch? Does this mean I'd have to choose between Q9550 or AHCI on the IP35-E? The IP35 machine is a server machine with 5 hard drives, etc, so I don't want to really swap motherboards.
Also, I couldn't find AHCI in the IP35 settings (getting 80 MB/s over the Gbit network, so not too worried about it) - does it also need a BIOS patch, or should it be there? I THOUGHT I flashed to the 18-beta (m630a.bin or something) bios for the IP35 to allow the Q9550 to work in the first place..

Well, if ToxAtec is still around 5 years later I dropped by to say thanks, the AHCI mod for this board works as it should. The PITA was to find a suitable driver for win Xp once the AHCI mod was done, but in Win 7 it works without any trouble with the built in AHCI driver.
As a side note, the v18 beta that was used for the mod does the (in)famous double boot, I believe v16 would have been a much better candidate but I don't have the file anymore. If I manage to google it up somewhere I will post it here for further reference.

Haha yeah I got an email notification and I'm really happy to hear that the mod is still being useful. Please post that beta v16 if you find it! I think modding it again should't be too much work.
