Is it possible to add Athlon II support to ECS KA3 Deluxe?
#1
BIOS:
http://www.ecsusa.com/ECSWebSite/Products/ProductsDetail.aspx?detailid=856&CategoryID=1&DetailName=Bios&MenuID=52&LanID=8

It's my friend's motherboard, and ECS support told him that they won't make it support AM3 processors because the motherboard is too old. I don't know if he still has this motherboard around for testing.

i think the regular ka3 has a soldered bios chip.. unless the deluxe is socketed I would not recommend messing with the bios

ECS says: "It isn't socketed and was never planned to be!"
So Phil, if you or your friend know a person wich is very good in soldering and you find a source of a socket and a BIOS-replacement-chip you can do something good to the board and replace the soldered BIOS-chip to socketed version. BUT there is still a neat problem with the compatibility of the "ATI CrossFire Xpress 3200-Chipset" with its ATIĀ® RD580 North- and ATI SB600-Southbridge. I can't find any AM2+ or even AM3 mainboard with this chipset anywhere and the specs of the chipset also say NO!...
But, by the way, isn't it fast enough??

So long
