Sorry for not quite understanding. So, when I use the Bios Mod built for me from my backup, (post #230, this thread) do I keep my significant data? If I do, then, is that why I should only use the Bios Mod built for my system?
(I was called out of town, and haven't used my bios mod yet - but I really want to! I was planning to use it on Thursday when I get back!!)

Not to drift too far off topic, but is there a thread here I could/should post to to ask a couple of questions about modding BIOSes?
I have to admit that I am curious, and wouldn't mind trying - though given that the stakes can be high if I fail (bricked laptop), I am hesitant.

You do keep your unique data, i did exactly the same mod on your BIOS as i did to my own, and i have reinstalled Windows 8.1 from blank installation media afterwards, and it got my Windows license from BIOS and activated successfully.
Note you must only use BIOS mod based on BIOS backup from your own computer!
PS: What I'm doing is forcing CPU to branch to "wifi card OK" code path, if that makes sense.
There's some information here on modding this type of BIOS: http://donovan6000.blogspot.com/2013/06/...lists.html

Yep, that makes sense. (Been a computer programmer for quite a while - even coded a bit of assembly back in the day...)
Thank you for the link. I'll be back into town tonight, and will let you know how the mod goes!

One last thing, if I run into a problem (I'm not doubting your mod, just want to make sure I have an exit strategy if I mess something up) I should be able to re-flash my BIOS backup until I figure out what went wrong, yes?

Ok friend, if You don't brick laptop You can use same way to reflash your Bios Backup
without any issue !
But if You'll brick (rarely happens) then You'll need an HW SPI Programmer !

Hi, I wanted to install the Intel Wireless dual band AC-7260 in my Lenovo Y50-70. Of course there's a whitelist and I can't install it.
If you could, please, make me a BIOS version with this whitelist removed... I would be very pleased...
My actual BIOS is 9ECN31WW(V1.14). I'll give a link to the backup I did .
I don't know if it's enough for you to work on. Please let me now.
I would also be very interested in the way you proceed to remove the whitelist. So if you have time to explain, or a link to a website, please feel free to share with me.

Thanks in advance, Victor.
PS: Sorry if I made any mistake, I'm French.
