V5 122P Bios Bricked

Hello, my brother's laptop bricked about a week ago, and I'm trying to do everything in my power to fix it. The Bios won't boot up at all (black screen of death), and I'm having troubles trying to get recovery to work. I'm using a formatted USB Flash Drive FAT32), and I'm near the end of my rope.

Here is the file, I've tried running phoenix tool to get the proper name for the FD file, but I've had little luck. Is the FD file the only thing supposed to be on the stick? Did I get the right name for it? (phenoixtool tells me that AngelX64.fd is the proper name for the file, but that seems rather fishy). I've heard people say that the file needs to be properly decapsulated, but I've failed to find any tutorial on how to do it.

I don't know if your laptop is not recoverable as I don't know which settings are touched before, but this is your Bios Recovery File Decapsulated ed ready to use :

Copy It into an USB Dos Fat32 Formatted Stick and follow Recovery Procedure :

- Shutdown the netbook (notebook)
- Remove all peripheral devices
- Remove battery, Remove AC power cord
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds (battery and AC power still out), then release
- Put the USB Memory Stick in the USB port
- Hold "Fn" + "Esc" and plug the AC power cord in
- Now press the power button (whilst still holding Fn + Esc).
Wait until the fan will run, then release "Fn" + "Esc" keys
- The fan will run for about 2-10 minutes and the USB drive activity LED will blink
- I think the netbook rebooted automatically. If it doesn't, unplug the AC power cord once the fan has turned off

The bios should be updated with the modified BIOS, and boot as per normal.

Still no go, but something new happened. The screen powered itself up this time around (backlight was working), and it displayed one character in the top left hand of the screen (it was _ ). The screen powered off after 3-5 minutes.

I used unetbootin to load freedos 1.0 onto it, is this right? Here is what's on the USB drive after I formatted it and ran unetbootin/copied the .fd file: http://files.myfrogbag.com/xtrzpo/bios1.png The fan never stopped, nor the laptop turned itself off (I've given it 30 minutes on two attempts)

Hi friends. First of all sorry for my latest post. After all it disappeared leaving only the others replies :/

Well I rewrite it: Two days ago, I was adjusting my screen brightness on my laptop (Aspire V5-122P) when, with a disgusting click, the screen went suddenly black. First of all I tried to restart the computer when I got aware that my BIOS didnt boot. Given that, I procceded to flash it...

 managed yesterday to create a bootable USB in FAT32 with the *.fd file inside, which I obtained from extracting the exe provided my the ACER drivers' support site. I followed the instructions on this site and I pressed FN+ESC in the right time only to see, or to hear,  a constinously beep every three/four seconds. I leaved the laptop alone for a while and I looked for some answers in this forum (when I found this old post) until the beeps stopped. I was happy, beacuse I thought I succeeded. But it was only to find that the BIOS  didnt work again...

I'm out of ideas, I dont know what to do unless recover this last thread and ask for help. So if someone can help me I would be very glad, forever!

At the end I must apologize for my english since I'm spanish, and its 1:30AM and I'm sleepy haha. Thanks again!

found out needs 2.06 first then 2.12   it had 2.04 and couldnt update via fn esc.. then found doc about 2.06 security mechanism changed needs 2.06 before any other newer.
fn esc works with 2.06 for sure
