The incorrect identification is strange , although it might be that you have an asus motherboard inside your gateway pc

Where are you seeing it identified as asus?

The core i3 is just begging to be overclocked. Sad

The default BIOS doesn't have anything hidden except a resource manager and health fan control items. If you do have a spare chip though and want to test some other BIOSes that would be the next root, given you have a spare chip and are willing to test.

I found a thread of someone who had the same computer and I ended up bricking my system using afuwin to flash the one made so I had gateway fix it. Options for changing the FSB are greyed out.

Another compelling reason to purchase a spare BIOS chip?

I suppose. I'm looking into making another back up, but I went and forgot what to use. Tongue Well I'll take more caution since everything's already fixed. I'll try to donate for the help too, I need to find a friend with paypal.

I'll try again with flashing via dos and taking necessary precautions in case of failure so I'll try asking 1234s282 to take a second glance as he managed to unlock overclocking for another guy for this model pc here. Sadly the chips are soldered to the board so I cannot afford a chip for testing. Sad

Uhhh here's a fresh back-up with the replaced oem motherboard btw: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5DA7UGKB

Thank you for looking into it! Big Grin Excuse my noobishness also. Smile
